There is pain, there is agony, and there is the abyss. I am in the abyss, people.
Our HD-DVR receiver broke. Before I could watch the latest episode of my beloved Battlestar Galactica. You know, the Battlestar Galactica that is ending in a mere three short weeks. Ending for good. Did you east coasters hear that wailing lament just before midnight on February 27? Yeah, that was me.
I realize these are difficult times. Sickness. War. The struggling economy. Unemployment. Denise Richards' participation on this season's Dancing With the Stars. Hard times, folks. I do not make light of our country's current situation.
But my current situation is what I'm discussing here. I've lost every episode of this season of Lost. Seriously, my heart just bled a little when I had to type that last sentence. I've also lost every episode of BSG...Fringe...True Blood...Big Love...and countless Scooby movies and the girls' favorite episodes of Max & Ruby.
Please bear with me, as I am still not over it. I will wallow in the abyss of my devastation for a while. Please let me. Please love me. Sigh...

KFC, previously known for the Colonel's secret recipe, will now be famous--to me--for something even bigger and better than fried chicken. While eating there after church last night, my dear, precious, gorgeous, fun, fabulous, and special friend, Kelli, called to tell me, "I got a rock on my finger! I'm getting married!!!" YIPPEE!!! I'm so excited! Congrats, Kelli and Jordan. We will so throw down at your wedding. And you better not serve KFC. I'm just sayin'!
Now I have to contact Chris Harrison and tell him you will not be available for the next season of The Bachelor. ABC will be crushed, because that show truly needs some southwest Virginia representation. Maybe we can get Candace to apply...bwahahahaha!

I am crying for you! My DVR is my best friend.
Oh I feel your pain ... last year our DVR started randomly deleting programs. A Russell Crowe movie here, a General Hospital there, a few Max and Ruby's too (my almost 4-year old's favorite show!) and an entire season of Lost. I know. Tragic. Thankfully I can buy Lost on DVD. So you can do the same when this season of Lost and BSG comes out. Right?
Tell your friend congrats on the engagement. I love weddings!
Oh my...I don't have a DVR...but if I did, and I was in your situation, I imagine I would wail too...
Congrats to your friends!!! YAY!
That was YOU? Shoot girl, i thought we were having another earthquake.
Truly, I'm sorry.
And congrats to your friend Kelly!
That's really sad...but I have to say that anyone who's that upset over missing a show called "battlestar galactica" needs a little wake up call.
Your DVR was pissed. I would have shut myself down too.
Now if The Bachelor finale was on there or something...I'd consider sending ou a new one...but since it's not...sorry.
I do not have a DVR, but I can only imagine the heartbreak at losing all my favorite shows....
trying to think of some really depressing news to make it all comparitavely better....
can't think of any.
sigh.
so sorry for you.
:)
Wow, sorry to hear about the DVR. I would be LOST without mine.
Congrats to your friend too. She's adorable.
I'm sorry for you loss, but on the upside, you will have tv to watch all summer! They'll show it all again. You will just have to rebuild. Who knows? You might find something even MORE enjoyable in your tv journey. Until then, think, "on demand."
I do have great love for you. You know that.
You're friends a cutie. Good luck to her!
I honestly can't imagine losing my dvr collection. It would be awful. I so feel your pain. Did DirecTv ever offer anything better?
Congrats to Kelli, what an exciting adventure she is about to embark on.
And finally, SQUEAL!! I am so excited I won your contest! Thank you!
My deepest sympathies for your loss. I don't have a DVR but I hear they can be ornery. :(
I hate to say it but maybe it went on strike cause you overworked it! Dang! You had a lot of stuff on there.
Enjoy your snow day!
Who knew that the DVR would become so indispensable??? Mine is currently chock full of House episodes and Yo Gabba Gabba. To lose those-- we can't even go there.
Okay, I thought my situation was dire because my hubby deleted The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham. I was uber mad and I almost slept on the couch because of it. Thank you for saving my marriage. I am, however, deeply saddened and sorry for your loss. This is a travesty of monumental proportions.
You lost LOST?
I am with Melissa. It is an unbelievable disaster. I am so very sorry for your loss. Right before we moved our dvr died. I lost all of season 3 of lost. I am not sure why I wasn't watching them when they came on. But I know I had planned to watch them before we moved. And then it died. I had to wait for netflix and catch up.
Do you have a new one yet? Was there much that you had not seen?
Coming over from SITS to say hello!
Your blog is great! Too bad about the DVR though!
So sorry to hear you lost all your recorded programs...hope you get a new one soon!
Mom
Congrats to Kelli! Hope you can get a new DVR soon....and I'm sure one of your groupies can make copies of the shows you missed and send them to you!
Oh Lula, I hear your pain. It is such a loss that you suffered. I hope you are able to pick put the pieces again soon.
Is that what I heard Friday night??? I thought it was the wind :)
Oh, now I can finally share this, because you will understand. We turned off our satellite and DVR in January to put that $100 into our adoption fund, and I cried. Seriously, I stood in the kitchen and cried over my lost Top Chef episodes, the season of Project Runway that I won't ever see (and no one else may either), the Colbert Report that we DVRed every night and 77 episodes of Scrubs. I stamped my feet and had myself a little hissyfit. Then my husband reminded me that a baby is more important than cable, and I was able to pull myself together.
Sniff, sniff. The memories still haunt me.
Oh man! I am so sorry about the DVR. You lost LOST?! How ironic..and horrible. I would send you cookies...but I live on the west coast which is sorta kinda far, which would mean my cookies would be sick nast once they got to you. Who am I kidding? They would have been sick nast before I sent them.
Anyway, I am feeling sad for you right now. Oh hey! I have a super belated valentine to send you with Movie Edward's face on it. Email your address...
I don't have a DVR receiver (or whatever) but I do feel sorry for you. Missing Big Love. And did I just leave a comment for a contest that had already been won? See, I am sharp as a tack!!
Oh, my heart aches for you! The loss of our beloved DVR recorder would send me over the edge too. Yes, I agree, it's even worse than Denise on Dancing!
Wanna come to St. John? :-)
I am crying for you. I never knew how wonderful a DVR could be, unitl I got one. Morgan especially loves it. He records all kinds of shows. A few months ago we had to have our box replaced. He was heart broken. Lost all of his shows, some of which he had not watched yet. It was a sad day.
Can you find those Lost episodes online????
Ok, so I guess I missed your giveaway. I blow.
And I am very, very sorry to hear of your loss. These are sad, sad times. Be strong my dear. Be strong.
Just think lovely thoughts...more time to blog, more time to enjoy your friends, more time to go to church, more time to enjoy your family, more time to eat KFC, more time for Twilight...or, possibly, even more time to write your OWN Twilight-esque novel. I think it would be a keeper!
Oh dear, that IS something to wail about!
Congrats to Cara! She's one of my faves!
We love our DVR! I have Scooby episodes, so they can come here and watch!
We love you Kelli! And btw, that picture was taken at Amie's wedding! Ahhh! How sweet!
My sincere condolences.
I think our DVR is on its last leg... Shane says I've overworked the thing, recording too many shows. And too many of them at the same time!
I love my DVR... I'm sorry pookie bear.
I told Mr. B yesterday when we get married I want KFC cole slaw.
Oh my friend....I feel you pain! My DVR won't record anything on the 2nd reciever. It missed American Idol (I know you don't love that show, but it was heart ache to me.) and is refusing to record anything this week. I'm going out of town. I NEED my shows!! What will I do? I still have all the Losts (so far unless something freaky weird happens), wish I could zip them up and email them to you.
And congrats to your friend Kelli, and also to Cara.
I feel your pain girl!!!! Seriously, that would be frustrating if I lost shows that I haven't seen yet and not to mention all my little guy's.
Mama Kat's comment is hysterical!!! Holey crow!
The hubby and I were discussing how we could save money each month and he talked about shutting the cable off. I almost went postal on him. YOU CAN NOT LOCK ME UP INSIDE THIS HOUSE AND TAKE AWAY MY TV YOU BAST**D!! Then he started talking about getting a pre-paid cell phone and it took me over the edge. Let's just say it's a good thing the hammers are kept out in the garage, okay??
Girl, I'm so, so sorry..
bummer.
My heart is breaking for you! Seriously though, do you really only have ONE? Backup sister, backup! LOL
Yay Cara! You lucky bean!
