It's that time of year again...
...when my eyes turn toward the most sensual of fruits:
Yeah, I said "sensual." Pumpkins are sensuous! I find great delight in the partaking of pumpkin. Especially when it has been enhanced with cinnamon. Or whipped cream. Yum.
And really, it's my fetish. I'm kind of obsessed with the warmly-hued orb. It speaks of Autumn, cooler weather, holidays, and childhood memories.
Sally & Linus...'nuff said!
'Round here, we enjoy every aspect of the pumpkin. Especially the seeds! I've only toasted pumpkin seeds every other day for the past 2 weeks. A little butter, worcestershire sauce, garlic & onion powder, and about 7 minutes in a 375 degree oven=savory goodness!
This year, I'm thrilled to report that my lips will receive the same luscious treatment as my body...there is no such thing as pumpkin overload. Ever.
I rejoice when Starbucks resumes the creation of my most favorite latte in the wide world. My first pumpkin spice this season was in the Charlotte airport last month. I audibly gasped when I saw the sign: "IT'S BACK!" I ordered mine (grande) and sat down to read more of Suzanne Collins' Catching Fire. Truly, it was one of the highlights of 2009 for me, thus far.
I have a recipe for homemade pumpkin pancakes...but flapjacks are for Saturday mornings, and I'm lazy on Saturday mornings. It's an American birthright to be lazy on the weekend. Thank you, Stonewall Kitchen, for making this fantastic mix available. I just add lots of cinnamon (always!) to my batter, and top the finished product with whipped cream. It's an ambrosial experience.
Currently being used in my home right now, and worth every single penny. This candle enhances my mood, which benefits our entire family and ups our happiness factor exponentially. Therefore...worth every single penny.
Fall is my most favorite season, due in part to my beloved pumpkin. It makes me so, so happy. Have you ever had pumpkin crisp for breakfast? Oh. My. Stars. Divine! Please do yourself a favor and make the pumpkin crisp already!

Loved your tribute to pumpkins! I finally broke down and visited Starbucks last week and was overjoyed and a Grande too!!

I was waiting for you to mention the pumpkin crisp. And YES, there it is!!!!!! It's GOOD folks.
Love the Fall too. FINALLY I am feeling a bit of cool air in the mornings. I should try your seeds recipe, I've never done it myself!
Oh my, I could NOT AGREE MORE!!! I made a trip to the Yankee Candle store last weekend, and my house and car have been smelling completely lovely ever since :D I'm loving everything about the recent chill in the air and all that comes with it. Fall certainly is delightful (it must be all the pumpkins!).
I couldn't agree more! I love fall and pumpkins!! I haven't ever tried the pumpkin latte but I'll have to try that on my next trip.
I LoveX10 pumpkin stuff! All summer I was searching for a pumpkin candle and they were nowhere to be found. Now I can stock up.
Last year I was in Salzburg all Fall and my suitemate's mother was so dear as to send us a package with some pumpkin and spices so we could make a pumpkin pie!! It was so much fun and so delicious.
I love this post. I think I want to go out and get some pumpkin products now. Top of my list: Pumpkin Spice Latte.
I, too, have a fetish with all things fall.
It is, without a doubt, my favorite season of the year. I love Christmas, don't get me wrong, but there is something about the cooler weather that is such a relief from Summer. It's nostaligic because a lot of special moments have occured in the fall. I kissed Eric for the first time in November. I had my last child in September. My sister and my dad are both October babies.....I'm sure you get the point.
Plus, the color scheme is totally awesome!
Pumpkins sensual?
Oh yes girl, they are!!
But I'm not sure if I'll look at the inside goop the same way again.
Thanks for that :-)
I love you for this post. Did you know that i love the pumpkin more than anything? There is no such thing as too much pumpkin...you are absolutely right!
"Sally & Linus...'nuff said!"
Truer words have never been spoken. You rule. Let's watch that movie together
I need to make that pumpkin crisp!
okay i NEEEEED that pumpkin body & lip stuff
but you forgot.. PUMPKIN BEER
i had an amazing kind last night!
I too love fall and I am so excited to do all things pumpkin. The kids can't wait to get pumpkins at the house. And pumpkin crisp is next on my list to make. I made apple crisp yesterday.
You just love punkins for their round & "boobish" shape. Perv.
We share this love of all things pumpkin. I have this pumpkin facial scrub that makes me happy all year round. Pumpkin cookies? Could eat by the double handful and still go back for more......and all the other pumpkin goodness? I'm a partaker. If I look bigger than you expected in a few weeks, you'll know why.........:)
i second you on this pumpkin madness cause i love it too. my favorite fall (and really any other time if its canned) flavor by far! i was pumped when i walked into starsucks the other day and got to order a pumpkin spice latte!!
happy october!!!!!!!!
Yep, kindred spirits are we...
Have already made two batches of pumpkin crisp, Lula-style. And shared the recipe with my entire church congregation and the girls who run with me for Girls on the Run.
I love pumpkin. I love fall. I love you, in a sister-friend kind of way, of course.
You put on that lip gloss and we'll make out!
I love all things fall. And pumpkin-y things are right there at the top of the list. Roasted pumpkin seeds? Delicious. Ranks right up there with some of my favorite memories from childhood.
Pumpkin Crisp? How have I never had this before? I must try!
It's just that they're so sticky on the inside...I think I'm going to have the kids spray paint funny faces on the pumpkins this year...
You need to know about Bath & Body works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin fragrance. I found it by accident and LOVE it. I got the jack-o-lantern foaming hand soap in this scent.
Target recent had the Yankee Candle pumpkin spice scented candles (large size) on sale for $18.64 each. I bought 500 or so, lol. Just enough to get me through October!
I love love love love Pumpkin Spice! It totally makes sense all the way through January /nod.
Oh, and I'm seriously going to make those pumpkin seeds!
There's one pumpkiny morsel that was left off this post...most possibly because Pennington Gap doesn't have a Krispy Kreme store (neither does Asheboro - we just get them in Charlotte when we go home for the holidays). The morsel I speak of is the Pumpkin Spice doughnut...OMS it is GOO-OOD! You'll have to drive to the nearest Krispy Kreme without delay to try one.
I love Fall too! I need to bust out my Pumpkin stuff today :)
Love me some Pumpkin Spice philosophy lip gloss. Only thing is, I end up likcing it off my lips, it tastes so good!
I, too, love every one of those things. I was just thinking the other day that I need to go get my Yankee Candle stockpile replenished for the holidays.
And I have to go to Sephora. Just might end up buying some Philosophy Pumpkin Spice body wash. 'Cause I have a coupon.
Perhaps I will do all of these things whilst sipping on the nectar of the gods.
Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a pumpkin-everything fetish. To celebrate the first day of Fall I baked Pumpkin Praline bread, stocked up on Pumpkin Spice coffee creamer and demanded my mother's recipe for Pumpkin-Parmesan pasta sauce.
Have you ever had a pumpkin pie milk shake? I made them this weekend and.... ohh.... soooo good... divine, actually. I used this recipe- here ya go!
http://www.ourbestbites.com/2009/09/pumpkin-pie-milkshake.html
Yep, yep, yep. Making my first batch of pumpkin goodness today. Pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. LOVE pumpkin season!! And now, I've got to get to the store and buy that candle!!!
Scientific fact - pumpkin pie spice is a scent (read: phrodisiac) that men find particularly intruiguing.
Bring it on!!
I forgot that it was fall, that it was October, and that it was pumpkin seed time. YUMMY!! Memory, though...Word of Life, crazy girl road trip, pumpkin seeds all over the floor. GOOD TIMES! Love you!
I love all things pumpkin...and there's only one thing missing from your list. Pumpkin Pie in the Sky from Coldstone. Mmmmm...
