Sometimes I fear many of my admissions will frighten y'all, send you running for the hills, and/or leave you with a big case of rolling eyes and a clicking tongue. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Twin Peaks, Battlestar Galactica, Lost fanatic, Georgia Bulldog devotee, quoter of Steel Magnolias, obsessive spreader of Twilight love...all the quirks that make me...well, Lula!
This month, however, I am casting all fear aside. It's October. I love October. I love that it's Caroline's birthday month, as well as my brother's and our niece, Eliza. I love Halloween. (Yes, I'm a Christian, no I'm not a pagan. End of story.) I love scary movies and haunted houses and being frightened out of my gourd. Love, love, love it.
I have a list of movies that I make a point of watching each October. This one is at the top of my list. I have it memorized. The soundtrack in on my iPod. My husband gave me the DVD the first year we were married (he's so romantic that way!). I want to star in a remake, but only if my most favorite actor in the world, Tim Curry, would agree to star with me. It's my dream.
For the record, I want to play Magenta. For those of you unfortunate enough to not share in my love of Rocky Horror Picture Show, she's the one galavanting in the maid uniform. I love me some Magenta. I love me some Dr. Frank-N-Furter. I love me some youthful Susan Sarandon ("Toucha, toucha, toucha touch me...I wanna be dirrrrrrty...").
Don't judge. Just embrace me and my quirks, please.

You know, I've only seen parts of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I really need to see it. It's one of those movies that everyone but me has seen.
I have not seen that in YEARS! Thanks for the quick train to memoryville!
Okay Lula, just so you know, hardly a day goes by that I don't say, "Damn't Janet."
I love Rocky Horror. That is the best soundtrack. I think in honor of you, this mornings breakfast music is going to be a little, "Sweet Transvestite and Time Warp." You rock.
That reminds me, John Oszjaca , have I given you his name before? He is one of my favorites, itune him.... Whenever I make cd's for someone new I end them with "This is How She Goes." He's got lots of awesome songs though.
Yet one more reason I love you! I love the Rocky Horror Picture Show! I've been to midnight showings four times and it is so much fun. It's fun to watch at home, though, too. I could probably sing every word to every song. I always wanted to be Janet. She gets all the guys.
Ya know, I have never seen that before but I just might go to the library today and get it. Do you love Sound of Music and Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat??
Oh and I forgot I love, love, LOVE, did I say love the new Twilight Trailer. I have already watched it like 20 times!!!!!!
We embrace and love you quirkiness, sweet pea.
I think I've seen it completely once. But I get it and the Clue movie mixed up in my head. I need to do a little review. Is there music on your blog?
I am short of breath, watching this Twilight trailer. They are seriously gonna have to kick me out of the theatre on Nov 21st.
Sigh.
Edward, I've been waiting my whole life for you. Fictionally speaking, of course.
Ok Lula here we go again another reason I think you're grand. Love Rocky Horror.
Okay, I have never actually seen the entire movie of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I don't heart Susan Sarandon.
But I love the new Twilight trailer. Now I'm beginning to get antsy and all wanting to put a countdown clock on my blog about the movie too. I have introduced Stephenie Meyer to my sister in law, my mother in law, my cousins and the list keeps on growing.
I've seen the Rocky Horror Picture show more times than I can count, usually on Mill Avenue in Tempe where the actors played the parts in front of the actual movie playing. It was good fun :)
I've only seen parts of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and I've wanted to watch it forever.
As for the trailer...my heart skips a beat watching that. Is that normal? It may be hazardous to my health to keep watching repeatedly.
See, I knew my bloggy crush was spot on. Love RHPS. Time warp rocks it out loud.
Ever been to a showing in costume? That would be f.u.n.
You'd be a great Magenta.
I am a God fearing woman, but TOTALLY love Halloween. Just like anything, it's all about priorities and what you value as important over other things. Go on and scream through that haunted house.
LOL you're a hoot!! NOTHING you have said has scared me in any way - I guess it's only because we have a few of the same quirks. Well - I think you might secretly poison me since I haven't read the Twilight series yet.
Keep being you girl!
I like horror movies too! We recently visited a 'haunted' house, my last post is all about it!
I definitely love you and your quirks. Because, well... most of them are the same as my quirks too.
I have the soundtrack on my iPod as well.
I KNEW we were southern soul sistahs!
I, too, love Tim Curry. Clue is one of my favorite movies. RHPS is a classic. CLASSIC!
You can't scare me, Lula. I promise.
However, I bet I can scare you.
I've never seen Rocky Horror Picture show!!!
See, told you I would scare you.
The rocky horror picture show still plays where I live. Every Sat. night at midnight, and people come dressed in costumes. All year long, IT IS THE BEST!
It's your quirks & passions that are exactly why we love ya. Don't start apologizing for them now. Thanks to that obsession, I am dressing my husband up as a vampire for Halloween. Our little Batman's going to bed early that night :)
I'm glad I can come out of the closet (?!) now and also profess my love for Tim Curry! I think it's the voice.
Heather - "Clue" is one of my all-time favorite movies. Totally hilarious. Off to add it to my profile list. And fix the typo Space Balls. Hubby keeps pointing out that it's one word. Snob.

OMG I love me some Rocky Horror. Now I so desperately want to see it. I think a trip to Blockbuster may be in order later today. Haven't seen it in years.
They used to do it live every friday night with audience participation in LA...
Dream big, girl. Dream big.
What a trip! I think you could show Magenta a thing or two.
I was lucky enough to see Tim Curry play King Arthur in Spamalot on Broadway. He walked out on stage, the audience erupted in applause, and he stood with his hands on his hips, and enjoyed it! I love that about him. He got out of character for a moment and appreciated his fans.
That was Susan's best role wasn't it!! lol
I love RHPS and way back when I saw it several times in the theater. That is the best experience (dont forget to bring your toast)...thanks for the flashback!
What up chickie?
I only saw it once and wasn't really my cup of tea...
but I do LOVE Halloween!
PS Ann Again is having a GNO tonight. My 1st...lost my cherry...again.
OMGosh I haven't seen Rocky Horror in years... probably not since I was in high school. And I always want to say "Dammit, Janet!" when I see something about it!
Tim Curry is awesome... I love Clue! I haven't seen that one in years, too!
We are fellow lovers of the RHPS. Remember?--I went to it repeated times as a 5 year old---and I remember you wanted to dress up like slutty Janet for Halloween :)!
It's just a jump to your left....
I am hanging my head in shame because I too have never seen RHPS. I was always scared to go to the showings of it because of all the things I heard they made "virgins" do. I'm a chicken, what can I say?
Flashback to the 70's here, we used to go EVERY blessed weekend as the dorky audience.
When we dressed I was always Magenta too!
Love the quirkiness that makes you Lula!
Do you go to the midnite show of RHPS, all dressed up, and throw rice at the screen? You're not still mad at me for my unadvised Falcons comment last week, are ya? The Packers are playing Seattle this week...do you have any kin out there?
Never seen it even though they used to do the midnight shows when I was in HS...I don't know if they're playing anywhere close by now. Being an RHPS virgin, would it be the same just getting my hands on it and watching at home?
So I was just going over my portfolio page and realized I didn't have your blog on there. I just added it!! Silly me!
Yep, I'm a big fan of the Rocky Horror! Great choice! Oh, and btw, LOVE, LOVE the name of your daughter! Funny thing, my 18 month old is also named Caroline! No wonder you have great taste!
I *heart* Rocky!!
I played Magenta, Columbia, Frank, Janet, Rocky, Dr. Scott. Yeah, I've done it all. And I loved every minute of it! Aaahhhhh, those were the days.
*reminisces a while*
Thanks for bringing it back!
You aren't weird at all! And I have just the blinkie for you! If I can find it...
Off to search!
Found you via Sunshine & Lemonade, via Scary Mommy! Woot!
I love Rocky Horror. And especially love Tim Curry. I am still lamenting that I didn't see him play King Arthur in Spam a Lot.
And how did I miss this post on Friday?
We love you because of your quirks. I saw Rocky Horror once in college because my friends from college were fanatics about it and could recite the lines as well. I think it is one of those movies you either love or don't. I didn't, as I can barely remember it. And no beer was involved. Or was it? HMMMMM...can't remember that either....
I remember sitting in a movie theater in the early 80s at Rocky Horror... throwing toast at the screen.
Good times.
I love The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Even went once (in my younger days) dressed up like Susan Surandon and threw toast along with everyone else. Such fun!
Lula, I am totally a Christian & I love Halloween. It's not what it originally was, plain & simple. It's a night of fun and dress up and candy.
I've never seen Rocky Horror Picture Show, but I do love me some scary movies. Later this month I'm planning a post about my favorite Halloween movies. :)
I LUURRVVVV Tim Curry!! And I must shamefully admit that I have never seen TRHPS. I led a sheltered life as a youth. I've heard about the public showings where people throw things and make it interactive. I think that's the way I want to see it. Now, I just have to find someone to go with me. Hubby refuses. Sigh.
