He Was My First.

The other day a fellow requested me as a friend on Facebook (oh, that time waster!) and I almost ignored his request.  Because I didn't recognize his name.  Good thing I clicked on his picture, as he's going by a different (albeit sexier, I admit) surname.  Because this particular fellow was my first love.  The first boy I ever kissed.

True story.

We were six and it was on the playground at Koral Klassics.  (Ridiculous spelling, I know.)  I don't remember much, other than we were playing Dukes of Hazard.  He was Bo, I was Daisy. Nevermind that we didn't realize Bo and Daisy were cousins.  Cause we made them kissin' cousins.  I'm just sayin'.

So I wrote on his Facebook wall, "David--my first love--my first kiss!"  He replied, "I was smitten--and you looked like Brooke Shields."

Man, I always did love David.  I mean, come on...it's been 16 years since I've seen him, yet he still remembers a time when I had bushy eyebrows and kinda sorta resembled Brooke Shields in her earlier, pre-Calvin Klein days.  Plus he was "smitten," and that right there is just amazing.

Someone was once smitten.  With me.

Sigh...I can now die happily.

David was such a beauty, too...all pale blonde hair and enormous blue eyes.  He could draw like you wouldn't believe, and grew up to become a musician.  Oh, and one summer his mother took us to see Grease 2.  We thought we were Very Hot Stuff, lemme tell you.  David, do you remember all this?

So Facebook has proved itself worthy, and reminded me that back in the day, I had really good taste.  Because cute little David Cranford grew up to become David Black.  And he kinda looks like a southern version of Robert Smith.  Wanna see?

Here's Robert Smith:

Here's David:

Dude, that eye thing is awesome.  Is this your album cover?

And this is all dark and mysterious.  I love it.

You know what?  I take it back.  Robert Smith and The Cure may have blighted my adolescence, but nothing will ever take the place of a schoolyard smooch between two 6 year olds.

Thanks for the memories, David*.  I now wanna watch Grease 2 while wearing my magenta satin hot pants, with Bonne Bell Bubble Gum Lip Smacker smeared all over my lips.  Such good times...such precious, tender memories...

Who wants to share about their first love?  Their first kiss?  Come on.  Fess up!

*Yes, I did have David's permission to blog about him, as well as use his pictures.  I'm kinda polite when it comes to stuff like that.  Just so y'all know.

I wouldn't even know my love's last night! My first love/kiss was a neighbor boy named Mikey.

Thanks for sending Angie my way! We can't believe we've missed each other all this time!

My first love was in my wedding as an usher! We were each others first loves 1st thru 8th grade...then fallback dates for junior prom...and remained friends through it all!

I can't wait till we have our first "non-lesbian" kiss and you blog all about me.

EEK! I'm super excited!

Ok first love would be Tony Napoli. He lived right down the street from me and he was wonderful. We dated on and off till I was 15 and he was tragically killed in a automobile accident.

I can't even remember who my first kiss was. I do know who I lied about being my first kiss though. :) I think I was like 15. LATE bloomer. LATE.
PS> Are we going to hear more about DB?

What a great story! My first kiss was so awkward and his name was Matthew...I doubt he'll be looking me up on Facebook though :)

I did find a girlfriend on FB I met when in Jr. High, that was fun...no kisses though :p

My first kiss was a boy named Shawn. I remember that I got really mad at him b/c he told his mom I was his gf.

I was tempermental even back then...

Anyway that kid's last name was the same as my hubs. Although it's not what you think it is, because Stevie was adopted by his stepdad and therefore got a name change at 10 yrs old.

I'm Mrs. {2nd last name}

that is so cool to know that some one was smitten over you.

My first love, my first kiss, my first everything was.....

my husband.

Cheesy I know. I didn't plan it that way it just happened at the ripe old age of 17 and I have never looked back once.

Totally Jeremy Simmons. We were also in 1st grade and totally in love....:) We would hold hands and sit under a tree at the playground.

No idea what ever became of him....I wish his name wasn't so common. It would be nice to see where he is now.

I would love to see pix of you and the David from back in the day - only if you still have your hot pink satin shorts (shudder)...

My first kiss wasn't until I was 20, and his name was Guy. Ahh, the memories of kissing someone with a goatee! My face was so scratched up. Later on he confessed his love for my best friend, but I had him first. LOL.

Aawww... sweet memories.

How fun it must be to come across the other half of your first kiss on facebook (well, since it's a good memory anyway - I'd rather not stumble across mine)!

My first kiss was nothing worth remembering; my first serious crush was my longest lasting guy/girl relationship before my husband; I am living out 'happily ever after' with my first True Love!

I'm ashamed to admit this post and subsequent string of comments find me flushed...yet somewhat aroused.

I'm getting back to work now...

Wow - the flood of memories this brought back! I was in that 'boys are gross' stage forever... I think my first crush was when I was 14 - he was so hot! He was the total opposite of my taste in men today though. We dated for a while... I was so depressed when he moved away. Noticed he had a page on Myspace - he still looks pretty good, but not really my type anymore. My husband is my only 'type'..bwhahahahaha!

At the same time feeling bad for Sissy up there, I am laughing at Tony. Ah, doesn't it feels so good to remember those days when someone dug the heck out of us. And the kissing and the petting. Good times. I am so glad you shared pics of him even though I was planning to go on your FB page as soon as I got home tonight to see! Cute.....

My 1st kiss was with a boy named Stephan Betancourt. I was 8. We all kissed young growing up in da Bronx. My 1st love, now that's another story.....

My first kiss. Sigh. Nothing to write home about. A boy I didn't really like at camp the summer after 6th grade. I would be VERY surprised if he found me. I'm not even sure about his last name.

Now my first love. Sigh. (totally different kind, tho) We were 14. We dated for most of freshman year. He was tall, dark and handsome. Ever so dreamy. I moved away after freshman year and although we still talked from time to time, we didn't do the long distance thing. I have always wondered what if I hadn't moved to live with my mom...

We, too, are friends on FB. It's pretty wild to be in almost daily contact with him 20 years later. (And his wife is so not cute.)

First kiss. Bob Johnson. Black hair, blue eyes, all dreamy. There had been a hayride and a sleepover at the church. We had held hands on the hayride and that had been a first, too. Bob had a paper route so he got up much earlier than everyone else. He tiptoed over all of the other kids sleeping all over the church basement floor and kissed me on the cheek. Before leaving for work. I couldn't have felt more grown up and special if I'd tried.

I found out on FB that someone had been smitten with me back in the day. I never knew. Learning was so bittersweet. Would I have liked him if I'd known?

I have a hard time remembering my first love. There were so many of them.

Just kidding.

I don't want you to think I was easy. What if we just say that I was open to different possibilities that came my way?

My first kiss was in 2nd grade and we were all playing kissing tag at recess. And we all got caught by the duty. I will NEVER forget having to sit with my head down on my desk and listening to my teacher say, "All right all you kissers...you're staying in from recess today. No more kissing tag." Uggghhh...I was SO embarrassed!

You are seriously one of the most interesting people I know ... you've got some good stuff, past and present, to blog about. Ok ... I've looked for my first love on Facebook, he's not there. :-( Or maybe he changed his name too? I hadn't thought about that. But he's obviously not looking for me. sigh

Well my first kiss was with David Moen in the line to go home in 2nd grade. He and I would play... wait for it... DUKES OF HAZARD on the playground... me Daisy, he, Bo. Serious Lu, could we HAVE more in common?

Now... my first REAL kiss was January 14, 1987, with Chris Graham, who is now a wildly successful upscale jeweler. I was 14... he was 12.

Totally cool. Of course your first kiss was with a future musician. It had to be. He looks awesome. I'm glad he found you to say hi. :)

I am still thrilled to see you post a picture of Robert Smith... :) Good taste~

I don't believe for a second that Bekah's first love's last name was "Wacker"...that is just too closely related to a good "that's what she said" joke. She made it all up. Or...if it is true, it was a foreshadowing of her blogging life ahead.

Anyway, Tedward was my first love AND my first kiss. Now we are married...awww how presh.

Want to know a little piece of first kiss trivia? He went for the french kiss the first time. I still make fun of him...but he is proud of himself. The fool.

Oh...and I was 15. Just 4 months shy of being 16. If I had waited until I was 16 I would have been paid 100 bones. Not sure if it was worth it.

Kidding!

i am NOT kidding. it was wacker. i know.. it really did foreshadow my future foray into blogging

i wish you would have been paid $100 lar.. that would have been AMAZING

My first kiss was with Bobby Crebs, Kindergarten, Fall of 1962. Sadly, he has no memory of this.

Daniel. My first love, 2nd kiss, and I was 15 years old (another late bloomer.) The funniest guy I've ever known. I met him at church camp and fell head over heels at first sight. I was his first love too. We wrote each other letters for a year, traveled by Greyhound bus to visit each other 4 or 5 times(our parents were way cool and our older sisters were best friends too. And we were both very innocent so no hanky panky to worry about.) I was his jr prom date then the distance finally took its toll.

We met up on on Facebook in January and had a great time catching up. He had kept all the letters I wrote him and he mailed them to me so I could see how tenderhearted and sweet I was as young girl in love. The letters made me cry!

We now chit chat via email every once in a while and mostly swap stories about our delightful children.

Oh....Facebook. The surprises you drop in our laps!

I was 12. It was after a dance. The boy stuck his tongue in my mouth. His dad was my math teacher. It was awful--the kiss and the math. I kept my lips to myself after that till I was 16...much better after that :)

Your guy is a mysterious cutie....but no Doctor Lula ;)
