Can you believe it's been 20 years? Truly I've never felt old until now.
Watch it, people...it's less than 20 seconds.
Mushy, gushy, cheesy, schmaltzy, and oh so glorious in every weekly hour of Days of Our Lives. Steve "Patch" Johnson & Kayla Brady, the soap opera supercouple of the 80's. They brought joy to my early teen years and I had to give them Lulaville shoutout 'cause of it.
I also acknowledge other great DAYS couples: Bo & Hope, Shane & Kimberly, Roman/John & Marlena, and my other all-time favorite, Jack & Jennifer. Sigh...
I'm also fully aware of other sudsy greats: Erica Kane & the 27 men she's married, Frisco & Felicia, Luke & Laura, Holden & Lily, Victor & Nikki, Josh & Reba, Cruz & Eden, Ridge & Brooke and Brooke & Thorne, etc. Obviously I was a big daytime drama fan back in the day. Every now and then I check in on DAYS, to make sure my peeps are still up to no good...yep, there's Sami and Lucas (gross!), and Bo and Hope, and son-of-a-gun...Steve & Kayla are back! Twenty years now seems like yesterday...
Bear with me people...just go with it...work with me!
Happy weekend, y'all!

Tonight at 7 pm the three major networks will join together for one hour of commercial-free television. Stand Up To Cancer is a prime-time effort to raise funds for the fight against the disease that affects the lives of nearly every single American. There are few things in this world I hate, but cancer is near the top of my list. I. Hate. Cancer. With a passion, y'all. And I support any effort to kick this disease in the boo-tay!

I was SO a Santa Barbara fan; Cruz was hot, and Eden was just gorgeous. Remember when their baby got kidnapped and taken to France, and Eden posed as a maid to get her back?
Michelle was into General Hospital; I loved Laura, not so much Luke.
Thanks for the memories. Have a great weekend!
I don't watch soaps any more, but I did back then. Luke & Laura were my favorite couple.
Luke and Laura...now that brings back memories. Ah...the after school hour with popcorn and General Hospital. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Actually i can't believe my mother let me watch that shit!
The only people's name I recognize are Luke and Laura. I was more a nighttime soap girl, Knot's Landing was my favorite!
Have an awesome weekend!!!
I was never really a soap opera fan but I can totally agree that 20 years seems to have raced by. I was actually just thinking about that yesterday. Note to self: pay attention now because these next 20 aren't going to go any slower.
Heather said it. I would get off the bus at 2:50 and run home so I didn't miss a minute of General Hopsital! Have a good weekend.
I used to watch General Hospital and sometimes One Life to Live when my sis and I were latch key children middle and high school and could watch these soaps while mom wasn't home. She never would have allowed it. I don't recall any "Days" plots, but with soaps, all you have to do is watch one or two shows and you're all caught up from the last twenty years.
BTW, didn't you know that not only do good Christians drink, they also don't watch soaps? I'm just sayin'.
Um, I meant, not only do good Christians NOT drink. Oopsy.
Fruedian slip, Caroline? You tippin' the bottle while blogging?
Okay, Harley and Mallet from Guiding Light was also a GREAT couple. His acting was horrible, but they had great chemistry.
i am that old...and i am maybe older...still remembering luke and laura on general hospital.
yep, it's true.
btw...love ur blog!
You know I love my days. Yeah, they brought Patch and Kayla back. Noone ever really dies on that show. EVER. I love it anyway even though Patch and Kayla don't hold the same magic that they used to. Now they're just old.
It's hilarious to watch just one soap one day out of the month and be completely up to date on everything...especially on Monday or Friday. LOL
I posted a 20 years post today too...it goes by SOOOOO Fast.
I remember when Steve and Kayla got married! I've always been a Days fan and still watch, most of the time!
OMgosh. I remember ditching the last few minutes of summer school (YES, summer school) to catch Days.
How are you able to remember all those names?
Are you secretly still watching? *wink*
Wow, DAYS was my number one show for years and then it got insanely stupid when Marlena turned all devilish. That's when it turned me off because up until that point it was one of the cooler ones. And Stefano coming back from the dead for the 132nd time kinda killed me. But this was some great stuff, molded me into the emotional drama queen I am today. Hah!
My sister and I ditched school to watch Luke and Laura and I don't remember for sure, but didn't they have a baby named Mariah???? Or was that in my dreams? I'll tune in to the cancer kicking bootay show for sure.
Have a great weekend
XOXO
Jack and Jennifer.... sigh
DOOL made me burn down a kitchen once...
I'll blog about it... someday.
Another DOOL fan here! And I'm with Lizzy on the Jack & Jennifer story. Swoon! Thanks for the memories...
Too cute you guys are! Glad you plugged the Cancer show tonight too! YAL BTW
I was an ABC soap fan for so many years.
I can't believe I ran home from school to watch the infamous Luke and Laura rape scene at the disco.
I can't believe the writers made such light of rape.
I can't believe that was 30 years ago....
I watched One Life to Live on summer when I was 11. Other than that, no soap operas for me. I can see I'm missing out of something though...
The only ones I was ever into were "Days" and "Santa Barbara". Boy that clip makes me feel OLD.
I just thought I would let you know I just posted a new blog, so check it out.
Love ya!
I started watching "As the World Turns" about a year before college. My cousin got me hooked. It was so fun to watch in college at the student center. I had no idea that so many guys watched soaps. And my friend Cindy's husband was in the airforce. And his entire platoon scheduled their lunch around "The Young and the Restless." Cindy would get so mad when I would talk to her betrothed about Victor and Nikki...
Nobody could do supercouples like DOOL could!! I was so mad to miss out seeing their wedding because I had band practice!
I used to watch DOOL religiously in the days when I was a SAHM. Still watch it when I'm home and it's on. You can miss quite a stretch of it, but pick up on the storyline quite quickly.
I was really into 'Passions' as well, when it was on NBC. It had some really weird story lines, but the whole Theresa/Ethan?Gwen love triangle had me hooked and a big bonus was that it also had Juliet Mills in it. Luverly actress, she is :-)
When I was in high school, I rushed home at lunch to catch up with Erica Kane on All My Children. I think I watched that soap all through middle and high school, then I would schedule my classes around it in college! Well, I tuned All My Kids in the other day, and Erica is Lookin' Good! Who'da Thunk after all those years?
You are probably not old enough to remember Luke and Laura...that was one of the big weddings too!
I was a Young and the Restless addict! Those times have been replaced by bloggin and FACEBOOK-my new addiction!
But isn't that the great thing about soaps...you can not watch for years and when you do the storyline is so clear.
And yes, sometimes familiar but who doesn't love to veg out in front of the tv every now and again.
~I did today.~
I watched All My Children, General Hospital, etc. on the ABC network when I was VERY young at my grandma's.
In high school I got caught up with Days of Our Lives/Passions.
I got too busy in college to watch daytime tv, but now I still check in once in a great while on Days.
My biggest pet peeve about soaps is when they change actors. I hated when they changed Shawn D and Belle....makes it hard to catch up.
