"But this I know with all my heart..."

Religion "stuff" makes people uncomfortable. Discussions about religion, like politics, usually cause most folks to squirm. So I will not discuss religion. Instead, I will share my heart.

There are many songs I wish I'd written. But none more than these lyrics, penned by Stuart Townend. It's the perfect summation of what Easter means to me...

How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

I love that song. Its on one of Wesley's nite-nite cd's and I heard it this morning about 4 something as I was getting up with him for the umpteenth time. And yes, for the record he is 2 1/2. And I am tired. But, nevermind that, I'll just take a nap today.

He is risen indeed!

I'm not big on religion, I have issues, but I don't mind talking about it. I just get uncomfortable when I feel like it's forced on me. But you don't do that. You're warm and loving and sharing your heart.

Thank you.

When Elijah was three, his Sunday school teacher wanted the kids to write a message to their moms; she helped with the spelling, but they had to come up with the words.

His message said, "Mom, I love the givens of your heart." (It's on my fridge still).

Lula, I love the givens of your heart. This was a great post.

Happy Easter, dear. Counting down the days 'til we croon to the Kings together!

I *LOVE* that song.
There is one spot in it where the time signature changes- and just for a couple of measures- that gives that song it's distinctive sound.

It was one of the first songs I learned when my husband and I were leading worship.

We'll sing it together in heaven, M'Kay?

Talented people who are able to write lyrics like that just blow me away.

Thanks for posting.

(You're so right about the "squirming" for me. I'll debate politics until I'm blue in the face. Bring up religion, and I head for the hills. The one last topic I believe is deeply personal.)

Happy belated Easter!!
