The One With Our Fabulousness & The Movie.

Because it was an event of Biblical proportions, Tiffany, Heather, and I had to be together. Even though I was sick. Even though my plans were changed 67 times. Even though it required a cross-country trip. It meant that much to us. After all, we were brought together earlier in the year by Twilight. Did y'all know that? I'll save that story for another post. It's worthy.

Just as we are worthy...look how fabulous we are:

After consuming large quantities of the best Mexican food I've ever had in my life (Carne Asada Nachos, people...and fresh pico de gallo...Oh. My. Head.), we did a little window shopping. And because we love her, took this homage to our gal Rhea:

(I didn't mean to be all Minnie Pearl with the tag hanging out, but you get the gesture.)

Then it was time to head to the movie. While in line we met the sweetest gals...discovered one of 'em was a blogger...and became BFFs, all before the credits rolled. This, my friends, is the joy of Twilight. It brings people together. Yes, it does.

That's Casey next to Heather...go read her blog. She is awesome, y'all. Plus she deserves mad props and major awards for sitting next to us for two hours.

And then the movie began. It was an emotional roller coaster for us. Did I mention we had Tattooed Minivan Mom with us, too? She declined photographs. And we respect that because we love her.

Back to the movie. For two hours there was much hand holding...seat shifting...sighs of delight...sighs of incredulity...declarations of intent to flee the theater...declarations of lust for Edward's lipstain...declarations of lust for Edward...a few "that's hot!" shoutouts...a few "Oh, dear!" summations...more seat shifting, more hand holding, more sighs, more groans. And then it was over. I also took this picture and endured much scolding from the person on my right. I stand by my decision to preserve this moment for posterity. And for blog fodder.
Seriously, Robert Pattinson has the most gorgeous hands I've ever seen. But I digress...

My dear friend, Kristen, summed up her feelings for the movie when my words failed me: "The first few scenes were so painful, had I remembered to bring my sackcloth I would've donned it right then and there." Oh, Kristen...my love, my hero...you are correct. You hit that nail on the head, precisely. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth the first half hour of this feature film. But since I'm tired of dwelling on the lows, I'll mention a few highlights...things that did make me happy:

*Carlisle turning Edward? Hot. I said it outloud, too.

*Jasper twirling a baseball bat? Hot. I said it outloud, too.

*The kiss? Hot. I said it outloud, too.

*Edward's ruby red lips? Hot. I must have that shade for my own.

*Emmett? Hot. I may have said it outloud, but I'm not sure. But I am certain of my Team Emmett status. Amen.

*Yes, that was my pole song as the soundtrack to the baseball scene. A big high-five goes out to Jennifer P. for thinking of me during this moment. I love you in ways that are kind of obscene, my friend.

*Pretty much anything from the baseball scene 'til the end was enjoyable for me. Before that? Not so much. I refuse to say more, lest I get all fidgety and flummoxed again. It's taken me a few days to get past my disappointment.

Moving on...

Tomorrow I'll regale y'all with more stories of Tiffany, Heather, and Lula In California, as well as the meaning behind this picture:
These fellas may or may not be our new boyfriends. I'll let you ponder...

I'm glad you had a safe and fun trip! I completely concur about the movie. The beginning was one hot mess but the last half was fabulous!

On another note did you hear that Twilight took in 70.6 million this weekend and they are going forward with New Moon?! Kristin and Rob are a go for the new movie but they MIGHT change directors.

P.S. I told you you would love the baseball scene!

I'm pretty sure they are each others boyfriends.

Do I take good pictures or what?

Kathi Roach said...

Yes...totally agree the baseball scene was AWESOME...I also thought James in the ballet hall was great. My daughter & teenybopper friends thought the movie was better than the book....I thought the book was WAY better.

Loved all the hair gel too!! Do you think that hairstyle will become the next big thing???

You look hot in that pink hat. I'm so pleased you thought of me!! I wish I had been there with you guys.

That last picture had me laughing, and I need to know more. Dude, one guy had his shirt lifted?!!

You girls had way too much fun. :o) I hope you save some of that for any future trips...

I'm surprised that only the guy had his shirt lifted... you being who you are and all.... ;)

LOVE the pics! I am so happy for you ladies that you got to spend the time and see the movie together! Right now the movie is a bit of a blur to me but I liked it enough. You're right about Emmett. He was perfect for that role. And the kiss was amazing. Welcome back!!!!! Can't wait to hear more about the trip.

I've been anxiously awaiting Lula's critique! I felt much the same. Some highs and lows. But call me crazy, I thought about Heather the entire night. Alice reminds me so much of what I imagine Heather to be. (That's totally a complement to her.) And for what it's worth, I loved Edward.

L.O.V.E.D. the babseball scene too. I liked the whole movie overall, but I haven't read the book for about a year, so the book was a bit of a blur---and honestly, my expectations for the movie were way down low (the book is ALWAYS better than the movie!) so I was pleasantly surprised.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your escapades! =)

Did you eat paint chips as a child?

I'm just sayin'.

I was ready for the movie to be over...I kept laughing at the "running at super fast speed" scenes and the "stand off" in the baseball field (snarl!)...I don't think it was supposed to be funny, but I found it quite hilarious.

Yeah, think I'll just stick to the books.

:(

I cannot wait to hear the story on that last picture. And what is up with the guy showing off his chest? Was he trying to persuade some hot mommy bloggers to do the same??

Brandy said...

Oh you temptress...you know what I want pictures of. And you are making me wait.

Team Emmett - you and me baby. You and me. He's hunky. Mmmmmmmhmmmmmmm. I vote for more Emmett, less Jasper. Anyone else?

I already emailed you my thoughts, but I gotta say, I did enjoy the baseball scene. It was one of the most fun in the movie!

Yes, Twilight does bring people together. If they go ahead with the next movie, you should totally offer to help out, and change some of the cast around. Come on, you can do it.

scargosun said...

You guys look like you had a BLAST! I am SO waiting for DVD now though b/c I always love the book more than the movie and I tend to get angry when a movie lets me down. PLUS - pausing Emmett scenes will be very good.

I loved the whole thing. Beginning to end...'nuf about that, what's up with Mr. Wanna B Sexy back there? Hmm??

Amy said...

Man am I late to the game, 28th comment? So listen, you know how I felt about the movie. I will say, I love Jasper. I love Alice's hair and I LOVE LOVE LOVE when Bella's dad was cleaning his gun and drinking a beer. Come on!! That rocked.
Glad you had fun.

Come on....no dissing the movie. You can, but it makes me sad...unless it's something I agree with, then it's okay.

A reviewer here hated the baseball scene. What movie did he see? Certainly not my movie-- I LOVED the baseball scene. Emmett is hot and I can admit that too. I also loved the Rosalie was NOT one of those too thin super model types. I could go on forever, but I will stop now. You ladies look AWESOME by the way:)

I'm having a hard time thinking after that mention of yummy Mexican food. I have a serious weakness when it comes to those South of the Border treats. Can't wait to hear more about your fab trip!

PS - Just finished Hunger Games. LOVED. IT. But I almost fainted when I saw End of Part 1. Now I have to wait for more?

Well, here it is again. What happened? One minute I was looking at this post, the next minute it disappeared...

Weird.

Anyway, I'm glad you survived the Twilight madness in SoCal, the tattoo, and the flights to and fro, sinus infection and all. Your haircut looks fab, and y'all look like you had a blast!

I am loving the tattoo. Oh, wait, they aren't officially on here yet, are they? Sorry.

Glad you had a great time. Looks like your feeling better.

LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR RECAP! Love the pictures! Love that I'm not the only one that said "Hot!" when they kissed! My husband grabbed my hand! (Yup he's a Twilighter too) You guys rock!

Michelle said...

Oh Lula, I am soo happy to hear that you enjoyed some of the movie. The beginning was a bit slow, but they are high school kids. My teen thought it was all good. I just loved it. And the baseball scene, yes I agree, hot. I love Emmett too.

Let us know how you feel after you see it again, because I know you will.

My girl wants to take me to see it again tomorrow for my birthday. So we are gonna go see it again. She started reading Twilight again and I am reading New Moon again and we are listening non stop to the soundtrack.

I can't wait for the DVD so I can watch it everyday, -big sigh-.

Anyway, looks like you girls had a fun, fun, fun, time!

We are traveling this week... I thought you would want to know that we are very near the high school in Oregon where they filmed Twilight. Just thought that would interest you. No idea why. It's not like you are a Twilight obsessor or anything.

HiHoOhio said...

If I were 17 I would be in love with Edward, but since I could be his Mother or even Grandmother in some countries, I will stick with, it was a pretty good movie and he was cute. I will say, I am glad it is over!

Shannon said...

Looks like y'all had some wicked fun! I'm so jealous.

Totally and completely agree with you on the hotness of Carlisle turning Edward... and Jasper w/ the baseball bat. Oh, my.

Can't wait to hear more of your adventures...

I was totally disappointed but oh well I still have my twilight books to console me! Also Eric left me a comment on my blog and I told him you were going to be soooo jealous! Watch this spoof! Hilarious!

Wow--looks like you guys had so much fun! You all look great!

I actually liked the beginning but they kind of lost me around the middle when she learns he is a vampire. The scenes in the woods were so forced. But yes, the ending action scenes were PHENOMENAL!!!

Glad you had a fun time despite not loving it!

I was curious to see if you had disappointment like many have had. I'm actually re-reading the book now, because I'm so confused as to what was left out. Then, of course, I'll HAVE to go see the movie again. If for nothing else, so I can drool over Robert and Jackson again. Sigh.

I must know, what city is this mexican restaurant that you keep raving about? PLEASE stop by my blog and leave me a message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pleeeeeeze!

Okay, I finally saw the movie. I am still SO sad you and I did not get to meet up in Asheville. I would have loved to discuss this series with you! I posted my thoughts on the blog and gave you a shout out. And I WILL be joining you to pray for a better New Moon!!!

Happy weekend!
