In The Same Boat.

This statement recently passed through my lips: "Fifteen years ago, when I was a freshman in college..."

Wait, stop. What? Fifteen years ago? Yes, fifteen years, people!

I find Steel Magnolias to be appropriate for daily quoting, so today I'll reference Truvy's observation: "Time marches on, and sooner or later you realize it's marchin' across your face."

So wise, so sage, so true, so Truvy. I never realized I'd be Botox-ready at the ripe old age of thirty-four. And yes, my dermatologist told me just two months ago, "You are definitely a candidate for Botox injections..." Thanks. Heaps.

I am not alone in my aging process. Because it will make me feel better, allow me to list a few well-known folks who were born in 1974. Like me. You know, rapidly approaching middle age.

Academy-Award nominated..........ah, forget it. Y'all get the point. They're beautiful, talented, lauded and applauded. With nary a crease on their head. (OK, so they've most likely had some airbrushing. Still...)

Whatever.

I find my solace in a gal who will hit the 35 mark toward the end of 2009, just like me. Look at her--Botox be damned!

Hello Kitty! The knowledge of our shared age makes me feel loads better.

As Truvy says, "There is no such thing as natural beauty."
I still want the Botox. Just so we're clear on things.

Wierd! I was JUST looking @ myself in the mirror, after fixing my hair, thinking...'wow, my face is starting to look 'OLD'' and then I come here and read this.

Lula girl, I am in the same boat - June 1974. And I lived in Japan in 1978... the height of the Hello Kitty craze. Crud, I'm old. (But you aren't. Really. I seem to recall that you were born in the fall rather than the summer.)

That's so funny that you know these, because I know the famouse people from my year too, to make me feel better!

When I see in the gag mags about their birthdays I think..."oh yeah...it's our so and so birthday this year!" LOL-too funnY!

I have the "Eleven" on my forehead and I have seriously thought about doing something about it. But alas, all these stingy kids want to EAT! Oh well, maybe someday...

Girl....I'm even closer to some serious Botox than you! My MIL just had some "work" done....not so sure I'll go that far after seeing her afterwards!

Botox, Schmotox. You're beautiful just the way you are. And I have 3 years on you. There is ONE or TWO things I would get done though. I THINK one of your interview questions covers that so I will wait until I do it to reveal.

Have a great weekend!!!!!

Thirty seven over here, you BABY. ha ha

I'll take some Botox with a side order of gut sucking lipo please.

I like to think I look as great as Hello Kitty. She's still smokin' hot. I sure still act like the little girl that first met her.

Let's go get our botox together.

Botox, schmotox, you don't need it, girl. With 35 just days away, I am definitely feeling the march of time, but mine is mostly in my body. Can I Botox my butt?

Mama Dawg said...

I'm scared poopless of anything that's injected into my body. For real. Even necessary drugs. I can't handle it. The needles don't bother me. It's the knowledge that something that doesn't belong there is inside my body. Like an alien.

Brandy said...

Needles are bad. Well unless you're getting a tattoo.

Besides you are a hot mama - you don't need any stinkin' botox. The only thing you need is a new dermotologist.

~Amy Adams...really 34??!! She looks like a baby! Now I officially hate her.~

So, you are approaching middle age, so what does that make me? I guess you could say I am a senior citizen and proud of it. I do not feel any older than I did when I was your age! Yes, my body does, but we will not go there.

LOL! I was born in 1972, so I feel your Botox pain! And yes, I want it too - among a few other "tweaks" but I don't want to look plastic either. Penelope and Amy Adams are beauties, but airbrushing and a little nip/tuck may have helped them along the way :-)

I say go for the Botox if you want it! And do post before & after pics - that way I can use you as a guinea pig to see if I will get it myself :-) LOL

Have a great weekend!

Ya know, If you stay on the plump side the wrinkles are merely laugh lines- but it's a life long commitment... Make sure you're ready for it.

Heather said...

Your mom is cracking me up!

Yep, I know how you feel. I work with a bunch of young twenty-something nurses...I feel ancient when I'm with them.

Where I will be all weekend.

Botox appointment next week?

Carrie said...

I don't mind my wrinkles, but I would really like some junk in the trunk.

I think I'll save up for butt cheek implants.

Although, by the time I save up for them, the only people that will see them will be the ones changing my diaper...

p.s. Couldn't Dr. Lula just write you a prescription for Botox if you reeeeeeeeealy wanted it??

I'd have him write me a prescription for some Flexiril. That's some seriously good stuff. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh...

Wow, those people look Gooooood! Darn, I guess there is no hope for us regular people.

Ryan Philippe always pisses me off. Not sure why...

Well, I haven't really seen a picture of you, but I will agree with everyone else because blogging friends don't lie..you are hott!

Shoot girl, you're in darn good company. That's a nice looking peer group you've got there.

I was born in 78...I'm like your kid sister.

I can honestly tell ya, it was harder for me to turn 35 than it was 40. At 35 I felt so darn old. At 40 I was thinking, hey this isn't so bad. And now, at 41, I'm thinking, I still look pretty darn good! Of course I probably need new glasses. That could explain a lot.

Val said...

From the pic on your blog you don't look like you need botox, but it's not a close up so I guess I really wouldn't know, lol
I too I'm sure will be needing this little piece of fountain of youth soon enough. I am a year older than you.

Hello Kitty has fake whiskers on her butt and a boob job. Don't tell her I said that.

You should email me.

Let's hear it for 1974!! WOOT!!!

I didn't know they were all our age! Who would have known. We look much younger. he he.

I can't believe they were all born in 1974. I was a Junior in High School in 1974. What a great year. If only, if only....

I think they've already put out to pasture all the actors from 1971.

Would you mind typing in a larger font? You know I love you more than my luggage, but I'm having trouble distancing myself from the screen while keeping my hands within typing distance.

Thank the lord you were featured on SITS today. I hate to think I would never have found you otherwise. It's fate! I also quote Steel Magnolias daily! Best movie ever! I hope you got your botox. If you haven't, do it today!
