Jack Frost Paradox.

The girls and I have been housebound since Monday afternoon. Because of this:

By Tuesday we had six inches of snow on top of an inch of ice. In mountain terms, that means Lula does not drive. Because I'm from Georgia. Where entire towns shut down for 1/16 of an inch of snow.

Thankfully I have a husband who phones from his way home at the end of the day, saying, "E-mail a list of what we need & I'll run by the store on the way home." I remind him, "Stick to the list!" because I know his penchant for Nutty Bars and Hot & Spicy Cheez-Its, items I never purchase. He reassures, "Honey, I'll get milk and bread and healthy stuff."

Good deal.

An hour later he walks in with 4 bags. Unloading the first two I exclaim, "Look at you & your 'healthy stuff' self!" I mean, Fiber One cereal means he's serious about having good, regular poops! Look at this bounty of heart-happy yummies:

I then unload the other two bags, finding this:
To which he explains, "For the girls, honey--y'all will be home all week, so I thought they'd enjoy a few treats."

Seriously.

I love him. I do.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy (belated) Birthday to my dear, sweet pal, Lizzy! I'd launch Booster B to save your life anyday. In the event of Thermal Curtain Failure, that is.

Umm... pop-tarts? Are a necessity. Not a treat. Just so you know.

He's just getting ready for "Brown Friday" tomorrow with that cereal, right?

I'm coming over for dinner and I'm staying for the week. We're gonna need more Oreos.

The Pop Tarts ... brown sugar cinnamon nonetheless ... OMG I haven't had those in ages! Dang, you're making me want one real bad right now. And if it makes you feel any better ... we had rain here today and I refused to leave the house. I just don't do weather. Snow? I would be a basket case.

you're gonna NEED that fiber one if you even think about eating that TGIFridays stuff! Your hubster is smart.

and just looking at the snow picture made my insides shiver. i may bitch n moan about the rain today but PRAISE JESUS it's not snow. i'm a wuss.

please be safe.

he is a bad bad doctor.........

oh, but such a thoughtful husband and dad!

enjoy the snow. I'm jealous, even though we have had more than our fair share, I'd like more.

that is so funny... and the girls need that stuff, don't they? :) Enjoy the oreos!

Yeah, my kids wanted to move to Montana. Until I reminded them that moving to a place with a lot of snow meant that we would stay home from October to March. cuz Mama don't do snow!

Pop Tarts are quickly becoming a favorite in this house, which is very disconcerting to me. I refuse to let them indulge more than twice a week. And one would think that I had served them the finest cuisine in the world from they way that they woof them down. LOL! Scott is a sweetie! But you already knew that. :-)

I feel like I've been house bound too, just not because of snow. Man, that second pic is exactly why I do not go to the store hungry. Those Oreos would be delicious dunked into the fat free organic milk. That's a wash isn't it :)

hahahah- what a thoughtful junkie!!!

He's my kind of internet doctor. He lets us have our oreos as long as we get plenty of fiber. It's all about a balanced diet.

And I've decided that snow makes me angry. Very, very angry.

Ha! That is exactly why my hubby doesn't go grocery shopping, because let's face it, he wouldn't have gotten those first two bags ;)

Cinnamon is supposed to lower your cholesterol or something like that. I think his motives were totally pure with the pop-tarts. The oreos. Aren't those wafers made with dark chocolate? Again, a healthy choice. He is totally looking out for his girls. That's a man right there.

Every time I go to the store, I eyeball the TGI Fridays frozen goodness. I have never once gotten them, though, because my willpower is just that strong. Sadly, my willpower is not strong enough to resist the ice cream bars on the other side of the aisle. Or the Cool Ranch Doritos. Or the Dr. Pepper. Sigh.

healthy poops. ew and ha

That's great! He's right, they do need some treats. :)
If my husband goes to the store he comes back with red meat, candy and ice cream. I guess he doesn't like my hummus and pita chips as much as I do.

Oh I love it. It reminds me of when I was growing up, I'd go to NOLA and stay with my aunt and uncle that at the time, had no children. My uncle and I would go to the store with a "list" and come back with M&Ms, ice cream, oreos, choc chips. I remember one time I ate so much crap I puked. I love him!

Here here on the Oreos!

Brandy said...

Yep that's how Stevie shops too. Exactly.

Although now I have an extreme cravings for some oreos so maybe I should send him to the store. That way I didn't buy them but I get to eat them.

If Hallmark made cards that said stuff like that I would be there a LOT more often.

Lula and Lizzy... friends... foreeeeever.

PERFECT snacks! Chocolate, mexican, etc. You just can't go wrong :)

Nicole said...

Oh I dont envy you and your weather. UGH.
My husband is the same way, he will spend 2x the money that I do and it's all on crap!!!
He isn't allowed to go shopping anymore.

Seriously, I posted the exact same picture on my blog a while ago. For the same reason - husband went shopping and brought home his own body weight in sugar. Fruit? Veggies? Poptarts come in strawberry, that's a fruit, right?

I wish I was snowbound. :( You have a good hubby to bring you all those treats.

I feel for you. Really.

I think I'd fall on the Oreos side of this equation every time! And guess what? College Girl celebrated with Lizzy yesterday...they share the same Special Day!

He tried, he really did!

Jennifer P. said...

SO agree with the first commenter--Pop Tarts are a necessity---and since you eat them for breakfast, they are healthy :).

I'd say he had a decent balance there---good going Mr. Lula :)!

Jennifer P. said...

ooops...I mean Dr. Mr. Lula!

Angela said...

Hi there Lula! Visiting here from Angie's SPot, and Stretch Marks, and I know I've seen you around other places. Anyway, thought I would stop by - and I laughed out loud, because the same thing happens every time my hubby goes to the store unescorted. The latest offender was a whole can (a WHOLE CAN) of slim jims. I was like EWEWWWWWWWW!!!! How do they eat that junk?

Vicki said...

I pick picture number two! This is why I must exercise so my heart does not attack before I'm forty.

Angela said...

Hey Lula! Thanks for stopping in to say hi! And yep, I'm a huge UGA fan too. Come on back to check out fun new food anytime! I've been blogging sporadically recently, but I'm planning to get back to normal here soon, LOL!

I feel slightly responsible for your homeboundedness. We are finally thawing out from our 9 inches of snow plus ice. But those snacks? Yay, hubby!!

Val said...

How sweet of him to bring You Girls treats. That very suspicious. At least it would be in my house.

Britt said...

Good, regular poops .. Bwahahaha!

Seriously, you ASK for healthy stuff?

I ask for Oreos and unhealthy crap. Having Kelly buy it lessens the guilt ;-)

I'm sorry about your snow .. all of ours melted this weekend. And now we have mud. Disgusting, wet, stinky mud. And thawed dog poop.

I can't believe I'm saying this but .. can we trade?

I HATE thawed dog poop .. especially in my mud room. That room needs a new name.. it's living up to it waaay too well right now.

I'll go with picture #2! PMS is kicking my behind right now! LOL

What a sweetie you have!

That is sooooooooooo what Mr. Baseball does when I ask him to pick up stuff from the store. I'll tell him we need
- milk
- toilet paper
- juice for the redhead

and he'll come back with

-cream cheese coated cinnamon biscuits from Wal-Mart
- Peanut Butter M & Ms
- Doritos
- and the like

Its blatant sabotage I tell you.

Pop tarts and peanuts make for a dangerous combo.

I had to laugh at "I'm from Georgia. Where entire towns shut down for 1/16 of an inch of snow." 'Cause that's exactly what happens here.

OMGosh. I am totally putting "Space Camp" in my Netflix queue!
