Please Don't Tell Paula.

OPEN MEMO TO THOSE WHO DINED AT MT. CARMEL BAPTIST CHURCH, SUNDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 14:

I am very sorry if tiny pieces of plastic were ingested whilst enjoying delicious corn casserole. Pretend it was really opaque onion. Not the wrapper which contained the frozen creamed corn.

Let's not speak of this again, please.

Signed,

THE PERSON WHO MADE THE CORN CASSEROLE AND FOUND A SMALL PIECE OF PLASTIC IN THE LEFTOVERS.

(I'm not saying it was me...I'm just sayin'.)

It'll all come out in the poop. With the corn :)

You're safe here, seeing as how I would never, ever eat casserole, especially one containing creamed corn. (I'm sure it's delicious, though, wrapper and all.)

So when the recipe said throw in some corn you really just threw it in huh???????????

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH

I'd eat anything you made.

Scary stuff Lula! I can't believe you tried to harm your fellow church goers! LOL

I'm sure nobody noticed - after all, it just added to the "crunch" of the corn!

Heather said...

...not very Christian of you to try and choke the people in your Sunday School class.

Not very Christian at all...

it was totally an onion. for sure.

Seriously, what's a little plastic among friends?

(I love Madagascar. Have you seen it yet? Do your girls love it? If you haven't seen it, you must get it for Christmas. It is HUH-LARE-YEE-US!)

I love me some corn casserole. Even with some packaging.

Well crap. All of the above comments stole my wit.

So I'm left with nothin'. Piddle.

I'd eat it. I love most casseroles. Even if they contain plastic. I'm sure no one noticed. They prolly thought, "Hey cool! Floss in every bite!"

BA HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I once broke a drinking glass over a tray of pralines that I'd just made.

(So they were just sticky enough for the shards of glass to adhere and sparkle in the light.)

My party pooper husband insisted that we throw THE WHOLE TRAY OF LUSCIOUS CANDY in the trash.

Something about shredding our intestines.

WhatEVER.

As if anyone at a potluck takes the time to look at their food or even breathe for that matter. If there is that much food in one place AND you didn't have to make it...Please it was inhaled. Happily.

LOLLLL!!!Oh, that is the worst to get the left overs home and find something in it. You just pray that you were the lucky winner of the find-the-crunchy-thing game.

Oh dear! Once, back when I was a kid-- all of 18-- I made a cake for a hospital laboratory party where I was going to school at. I was still living with my parents and my mother had an ANCIENT mixer.

The next day at the party, to my HORROR, one of the women I worked with found a SCREW in her piece of cake! OMG! It fell off my mother's ancient mixer into the cake batter!

I never made anything to take to there again.

I'm sure plastic with corn is delicious.

you are too funny! Maybe yours was the only piece of plastic. Plus it was so good people were probably swallowing it whole! Plus: why chew corn?

He-He!

You know, you can't digest corn well anyway. So what's a little plastic? Not that I'd eat corn casserole. Especially not now.

Ashley said...

Tell whoever made the corn casserole that it was probably delicious and I bet no one noticed. haha!

Melissa said...

I love that plastic with the frozen creamed corn. Care enough to cook the very best.

Too easy...plastic...corn. There's a wealth of material here.

Sorry about you aunt. You wrote a wonderful tribute.

Awesome! My sister once served Spatula Cookies. She was using an old Oster Mixer and didn't realize the mixer whacked up her rubber spatula until after she'd baked and served them. Ooops.

I was wondering where those little pieces of plastic came from!

Becky said...

Lula...you are so funny!

I think it is great you even made corn for your church.

Even if it was frozen.

Even if it still had plastic in it.

You made that corn for all the good people of your church.

I am sure no one noticed;)

Are tiny plastic chips a southern ingredient? You know I don't cook much. :)

At least it was little pieces of plastic and not hair. LOL I have a cousin who I love dearly and every year, she makes tortillas and there is always ONE of her hairs that sneaks in. Ick!

It didn't bother me! I love that stuff! I wanted some more Monday! I really need the recipe...again! I must have deleted the other one from my email instead of saving it!

And by the way, I saw nothing that resembled plastic in there. Maybe it was just one bite you had!

HAHAHAAHA! I make Paula's corn casserole and I add diced green chilies...it is a hit.

I love you girl.

scargosun said...

The plastic could have come from someone else who didn't make anything but brought something in a plastic bag and dumped it near your food. I would blame them.

well, i thought it tasted fine...

Thank you thank you thank you for all my wonderful gifts!!! You were way to kind! I have enjoyed looking around your blog and will be back!

Yep. You're going straight to hell in a handbasket...trying to off your own church peeps. Damn.

I think yours is the only comment section where I actually cuss. I hope people don't get the wrong idea about me.

I'm polishing my halo as I type this. You know, multi-tasking.

Mariah said...

Of course it wasn't you...

That sounds exactly like something I would do. In fact, I think I have. Not sure what I think about creamed corn, tho. Just tell me there was cheese in it and we'll be good.

Oh, Lula. Nothing you have ever written can compete with this, my dear. Nothing.

And are we not supposed to tell Paula DEAN? Or ABDUL? Either way - my lips are sealed.

Thanks Lula! I am glad you like it! I was having issues with it (I couldn't find a lot of my ornaments (found them after I bought new ones)... I forgot that last year I did a tree in my wedding theme (green with white polka dots) and stashed all the stuff away...
