Must-See TV.

Yesterday was a good day...I got a new hair "did," laughed so hard I cried off all traces of my make-up while talking on the phone with two of my favorite people, and spent some quality time with Libbey after school. Good times. Good day. Hooray for the first day of fall!

It got better.

The girls and I brought a meal over to their great grandmother's house, as we do every Monday evening, and after we ate and visited for a while, GeGe and I started talking while watching the CBS Evening News. It was during this time that GeGe made my day complete:

GeGe: Boy that Katie Couric...you know she went to UVA.

Me: That's right. Her nephew graduated medical school with Scotty, and I spent most of graduation day searching to see if she attended the ceremonies. Never did find her.

GeGe: Seems like I remember that. Didn't her husband die not long ago?

Me: It's been a while...about 10 years or so, I think.

GeGe: Wonder who he was? How did he die?

Me: Um...well, his name was Jay Monahan and he died of colon cancer. He was pretty young, too...in his 40's, if I'm not mistaken.

GeGe: Leigh Anne, you are really intelligent, you know that? You are smarter than Dr. Phil!

Wow. Smarter than Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil, of all people!

My one hour talk show will debut in early winter. Check your local listings for time and channel.
The two Helens--Helen "GeGe" Litton and Helen Katherine Sanders (our niece)--July 2008.

God loves great grandmas. Yesterday my husband's grandma (Granny) fell and broke her hip and had to get 20 stiches in her arm. She is 91. Keep her in your prayers.

Smarter than Dr. Phil! I love your GeGe! Btw, my hubby and I went to UVA. Very cool!

Boy, your GeGe is smart, to recognize how smart you are :)

Isn't it awesome to be surrounded by family, and be able to surround your babies with all that love?

I wanna have a Monday night dinner with GeGe, too. I'm not as smart as Dr. Phil, or you, but it would still be fun.

You're show won't take up all your time, right? Cause I think I'd just cry if you left your blog unattended to go all Hollywood. :o)

Yes, Gee Gee is one of a kind and such a wonderful lady. Yes, I have had the chance to be around her since she is my grand daughters' great grandmother. I think there will never be another like her. She says whats she thinks and has always done so since I have known her. I admire her and her family for taking such good care of her. So, she thinks you are smarter than Dr. Phil, that is priceless!

BTW I love GeGe and completely agree with her assesment of you...you ARE smarter than Dr. Phil. And Ellen. And Tyra.

Keep me posted on that whole talk show thing.
And I'm telling you, if you have a sewing machine, you can sew.
One day I will come teach you, just to prove that you can do it. Until then, feel free to enjoy the fruits of my labor ;)

You have to post a pix of your new look!!

Let's see the new "did".

Mama Dawg said...

I'd watch! Is it going to be called "Just Lula" like "Just Jack" from Will and Grace? That would be awesome!

Kat said...

I could totally see you with your own talk show. And that could be your tagline - "Lulaville. Smarter than Dr. Phil."

And where is the new do??

(Oh, and I posted about the commercial today :-)

That's so funny you mentioned both Dr. Phil AND law school graduations, because my husband graduated law school with Dr. Phil's son Jay. And, I looked for Dr. Phil during my hubby's graduation (and saw him).

My hubby knew Jay slightly...said he was always driving expensive, flashy sports cars and heading to Vegas for the weekend, but was a nice guy. lol

I love your GeGe! Smarter than Dr. Phil, that's awesome. Also what is awesome that you set aside time to spent with her. You rock!

Off topic.
Spoiler (boo!)

People don't read this comment if you haven't read past the first Twilight book.

I have only read the first book in the Twilight series so far, so imagine my disappointment when I was reading this article and found out that Jacob is a werewolf.

Can GeGe be any cutier? Seriously, what a sweetheart to say your smarter then Dr. Phil. That would have made my day too!

That is high praise, indeed! You gotta love the little old ladies. My own grandma absolutely cracks me up. I wish I could spend time with her every week.

Heather said...

I've said before to many people, "My friend, Lula, is smarter than Dr. Phil." True story.

Mama's Losin' It said...

Yes, Heather told ME that when I first met her. That's why I read your blog. I can't get enough of the smart.

Just think of what a threat you will be when you are better LOOKING than Dr. Phil!! I know I know...impossible. But you WOULD be a threat!!

ps I love gege.

Lemme guess...first show: cast of Twilight alongside Stephenie herself. Do I win a prize? Cuz I know I'm dead on. There is NO WAY there is another option.

Now that IS a great day. I think you're smart too. Can I be in the audience of your show? :)

Kori said...

Oh man I gotta get me a GeGe she ROCKS!

Thanks for the kind words. Of course I cried but then again that's nothing new.
