On the Ledge.

Dear God,

I know You have a lot to tell me, and I'm almost ready to listen. But can I go first? Thanks.

My house is a wreck. Even after days of cleaning, it's still a wreck.

My elliptical has dust on it.

This whole week is booked solid. Especially Tuesday & Thursday.

I drink too much coffee, right?

My closet resembles a landfill.

Despite repeated cleanings, I have a mineral deposit in my toilet. Or is it something toxic?

Why does Caroline refuse to potty on a regular basis?

The living room rug needs to be shampooed. It's not supposed to be spotted.

Are all these politicians grating on Your nerves as much as mine?

What is that smell in my fridge? Am I gonna have the clean out the entire thing?

If the Mr. Clean Eraser is so Magic, why won't it scrub my shower floor by itself?

I found a cobweb at the top of the staircase. It is not a Halloween decoration.

When will I ever get around to refinishing those side tables for Scott's "Man's Room?"

Do I really have to till up my garden, put away all my pots, and pull countless weeds? Maybe a disheveled-looking yard is chic this season. Let's take that and run with it.

The basement is a nightmare. Let's just not go there. Ever. (Except to get the Schwans goodies out of the freezer.)

Why am I so tired? Wait...I just reread all of the above. Now I'm exhausted.

I. Can't. Do. It. All. I want to, but I can't. Somewhere along the way I've lost my Wonder Woman cape. And Wonder Woman figure.
ww Pictures, Images and Photos
But I don't want to complain. I have my husband, my girls, my family and friends, my health, a roof over my head, and blessings too numerous to count.

Sigh...

OK, God...Your turn...I'm listening.

Cast your cares upon Me, Leigh Anne. Because I care for you. It's really not about you. I know at times you'd like it to be, but it's not. It's about Me. I'll deal with the rest. Oh, and I never asked you to be Wonder Woman. I just ask you to trust Me.
I love you for eternity,

God

And this is exactly why I love Him.

Girl! Get yourself a cleaning lady!!!

And you just reminded me that I used to run around the house in Wonder Woman Underoos when I was little. With bracelets made from tin foil.

Ok, actually that was just last week.

You are Wonder Woman.

Wonderfully Kind.

Wonderfully Fuuny.

Wonderfully Gifted.

Wonderfully Blessed.

Exactly what I needed to read at this precise moment. Between being really sick and having to meet a group of deadlines in the new two weeks...I've been feeling overwhelmed.

You just reminded me I can cast my cares on Him, who loves me. More than I can imagine.

Thank you for that.

did you lose your wonder woman boots, too? and, further, i agree with the first commenter. get a cleaning lady. furrealz.

You're awesome, go get a facial and forget all about those not fun things. They'll be around tomorrow. I think today you need a babysitter, a spa and a big cup of coffee. Just think, you're one day closer to Twilight.

Michelle said...

I agree with Tiffany. You now have a house to match mine. It will get done, no worries. Enjoy the beautiful day.

Caroline said...

If we could do it all, we would have no need for Him...and we'd be miserable.

Call me and we'll discuss Twilight, since I've officially joined the family!

Caroline said...

Actually, since your week is booked solid, don't stress about calling me. We'll talk when we talk. I'll still remember what I read...hopefully!

Kori said...

I think you're absolutely splendid.

I so needed this post. Thanks bunches.

Leslie said...

Surprise!!! I am coming out of the closet and leaving you a comment.. I can relate to everything in this post. This is so much my life.....Jessica keeps asking if she will have time to read all the twilight books before the movie comes out.

Oh, what a thoughtful post! And yes, you are wonder woman! You are raising two beautiful little girls and that takes a "wonder woman!" Who cares if the house is a mess? Seriously, mine is all the time. And it used to bug me. But now, I see that my daughters and hubby are so much more important. Hmmm, but I really would like to get those darn mineral deposits out of the toilet! Let me know if you find a solution! LOL

I feel you here too. I was just about to make my "must get done today" to-do list, and putting it off because I know it will be overwhelming. Good reminder about God's perspective. I think I'll go out on the porch and let him talk to me too. :)

Thanks Lula! We as mothers really should step back a choose what is the most important to us. My husband and kids usually win out over a clean house. Thanks for the encouraging word the Lord gave you to give those of us who read your blog! By the way your blog it great and keeps me laughing. By the way since you may not know who jatmah1997 is...this is Abby Sanders from high school. Now it is Abby Hunt for the last 11 years.

And this is why we are friends.

Why on earth do we think we should be able to do it all, when we really don't expect anyone else to?

I can write my name in the dust on my desk. And yet I still don't get out the Pledge and dust cloth. It would take maybe 5 minutes. Instead, I'm gonna go to bed and get some sleep. Then I'll get up and run in the hamster wheel some more. 'Cause some days that's exactly how I feel.

Oh, I can't wait until November. I so need a break, and some girl time, and some laughter.

Goodnight, Bella.

Absolutely wonderful!
Fabulously perfect!

At least in God's eyes. ;)

I seem to have lost my Wonder Woman cape...never quite had the figure, though......

And it seems that I need to jump on this Twilight bus... now that the journey with Harry has ended. *sniff drivel snort*

I, too, have frat house carpet and unintentional Halloween decorations. It's exhausting and frustrating. I don't know how people do it without Jesus. He is my sanity.

Melissa said...

God is so good. I need to listen to Him more and stop advising Him on what He should do....:)

Miss you.

I called my house "lived in". It's all the rage. In my mind at least.

One day I will be glad to dust the baseboards but it isn't today. I would rather enjoy time with my family and forget the rest.

Girl, can I borrow that letter? You took the thoughts right out of my head (they just sounded better in your words!!)

Thanks for the reminder this HECTIC Monday morning!

We have a cleaning lady. So the house is clean when she is done. And it lasts until five minutes after the kids are home. But at least it's clean for five minutes.

And the yard. Egads. Things are dying. But the weeds are thriving. We have one that must be six feet tall. With blooms on it. Is it still a weed?

I *know* I can't do it all. I am not sure why I keep trying...

OOH good post.
I find I lose a lot of time to the computer... It doesn't help my WW figure either.

Live.Love.Eat said...

Tiffany is so right. We all feel like this so much of the time but isn't it cool to have HIM. Can you imagine having to deal with all that and NOT have him. That would be sad!

Kristina P. said...

Wonderwoman is not all that. Do you really want to wear a cape and a gold chastity belt?

Hang in there!

CaraBee said...

Do you know what I've found? The people who SEEM to have all of that taken care of, are often very unhappy. And they're generally neglecting something else: husband, kids, family, SOMETHING. Me, I look at my messy house as a sign that I'm doing lots right in the areas that count, like raising a healthy, happy daughter and keeping my husband happy. Beyond that, who cares what your garden looks like.

PS Scwans goodies are the best!

My carpet also looks scary. I need to rip it up and put in wood or tile.

I loved this post. You rock, Lula!

Hilarious!

I hope it was meant to be.

Love reading your blog...

Thanks for thinking about me when my Sooners, uh, lost. I'm sure you all enjoyed your victory over the other UT!

This IS a perfect Monday subject, isn't it? Beautifully written.

My goodness you are so human and you realize you're not alone right? I think every single one of us feels this way on a daily basis. Thanks for reminding us that we're normal too.

OH He is probably telling me the same thing, because I have all that to be done and more.

Lula...I think this is my favorite post of all time of any blog I've ever met (that includes the one where I will some day be featured on SITS).

This is my new rule for myself, "No computer until after 1:00 PM everyday". And I mean I don't even turn it on until after then. It has been working. I did exactly that last week and all weekend. I have to do that or I will be at the computer instead of doing what I need to in this dirty house.

Who's closet isn't a landfill? Isn't that what closets are for? To "fill" with everything in the "land"?

Chill baby. It's all good:)

I just want you to know that with this post right here, you've wound up in my feed reader. :)

That's right cast your cares on Him and then don't worry about it. Make a list of major and minor things, and tackle at least one thing from each every day - but don't sweat if you don't get it done tomorrow is another day.

Dear God,
How can I be more like Lula and can I please get an excuse for my cobwebs too.
Thanks, your child, Mariah

Holy crap. I just found your blog through 'the R family diaries' and I think we're related. = ) My weeks are often scheduled around when Lost is on and my husband says he might burn Twighlight and every other book written by that woman because - and I quote - 'your hair would be on fire and you wouldn't know it if you were reading that darn book'. Hee hee. I enjoy your blog. Makes me giggle. And today's post was right on with how I"m feeling. Kids/husband/house/funny smells. I've got it too. Carry on, sister.

I think you secretly walked through my house while typing this! You described it eerily well. Love me a good honest post.

((Hugs)) Keep your eyes on Him and His desires for you. I've been hearing lately (and it's reminding me) to ask Him what His will is for me when waking up. It helps prioritize the day. I've been having this overwhelming feeling as well lately. Seeking His help is the only thing that works.

Nicole said...

Hi! not sure how I got here but you are hilarious! I know how you feel. I ask myself all of those same questions daily. I cant do it all.

Coincidentally, I used my magic eraser tonight... and you're right, it didn't scrub those finger prints off the wall itself.

I want my money back.

Awwww I love this post! I love the randomness that is your life...you crazy son of a gun. And I love that deep down you know you shouldn't worry about a thing. The big man is in charge.

Sounds like it's all in perspective on your end. You'll have plenty of days to be Wonder Woman--but only now to be perfectly imperfect Lula!

Gombojav Tribe said...

That's a GREAT perspective!

I think I can do it all, too. And when I fall flat on my face, I realize, I cannot really fly!

Thanks for the timely reminder!

Oh, and thanks for visiting my blog! Please come again!

I hear ya, girl. And so does HE!

In the word of a famous Sifu (from Kung Fu Panda):

"Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, to day is a gift, that's why they call it the present."

Or something like that.

Live in the present!!

Deanna said...

If you had inserted "boys" where you said "girls" and left out the basement part, you could have written that for me. Although I'm not sure I ever had a Wonder Woman figure... strike that... I know I never had a Wonder Woman figure!

Great post!

Carrie said...

HAHA Deanna said pretty much everything I was going to say! Except the boys parts. I only have one midget and she's a girl.

Okay, I gotta go finish my SITSa post, but I am now stalking, er, following you!

magpie said...

omg- great post! i feel like you took a stroll through my brain. just passing through from SITS. :)

Wel - I feel the same way right about now. Good thing we dont have to be wonder woman. I dont think I ever had the cape or figure.

How wonderfu He can hande it all.

Amen, Amen, Amen, and Amen

Thanks for the bump on the head :o) I needed a reminder, big time!
