I Gasped.

It was the gasp heard 'round the world...or at all the way over in Colorado.

I stumbled upon these pictures of the movie I'm most anticipating. (And it has nothing to do with vampires or werewolves. Seriously.)

Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter.
Anne Hathaway as The White Queen
Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen.

Oh. My. Stars.

Alice In Wonderland.

Are you kidding me?

Look at this:
Tim Burton...I love you.  As you are a genius.
March 5th cannot get here soon enough.

Oh, and Jennifer P.--you know your man is all up in this one.  Alan Rickman as The Catepillar. Might I also mention Michael Sheen as The White Rabbit, Christopher Lee as The Jabberwock, and Crispin Glover as The Knave of Hearts?  Good.  Because I just did.

SWOON!

Somebody please bring me the smelling salts.

Let's discuss.
Are you as excited as me?
If not, what classic work of fiction would you love Burton to bring to life?
Because clearly, he is the man for the job.  Any job.  Indeed.

I had not heard about this...but Alan Rickman under the direction of Tim Burton.....double swoon! :)

I would like to see Tim Burton take on the Frog and Toad series by Arnold Loebel. I'm sure he could find some way to make it slightly dark...but I LOVE those books, and somehow I've always seen them in a Burton-esque setting.

Heavens to Betsy!! How did I not know of this downright GENIUSNESS? Johnny Depp.

Those two words. That one name.

Bring me my vapors.

I did not know such a thing was coming. It looks amazing just in those pictures! Thanks for the heads up! :)

I don't hear about anything over here...unless you all inform me... that looks awesome. I love Johnny Depp. I had a life size poster of him from 21 Jump Street on my door... lol, he was in ripped jeans and had some make up on!

Don't tell J.K. but I'm actually anticipating this movie more than HP #6 in July.

When I first heard the rumor that Mr. Depp was approached to play the Mad Hatter, I immediately scoured the internets for anything and everything having to do with this movie. I've become obessessed. It's not even funny. Alice in Wonderland is MY story. It's the story of all stories for me. I've read most adaptations including the Looking Glass Wars books, I've seen almost all film adaptations and am drooling over the release of this one.

I ADORE Tim Burton and EVERYTHING he's ever done. The man is a GENIUS.

We just watched Beetlejuice Sunday night. It was LOML's first time and she LOVED it.

Have you seen some of his shorts on youtube? You really need to check them out.

Have I gushed enough?

I saw those yesterday and just about fell out of my chair! I had heard Tim Burton was doing Alice in Wonderland some time ago, but had kind of forgotten about it. I know, right?! The pictures are so intriguing, though, that now it's on my Absolutely Can't Wait To See list. Tim Burton has such a unique and interesting vision. There is just no way this movie won't be absolutely amazing.

Creative genius, I say. And any man that uses Johnny Depp and his wife as his muses (musi...what is the plural of that word?) in all of his films gets brownie points with me.

I saw those pictures yesterday...but didn't pay attention to what I was looking at. I had absolutely no idea. Wow.

And could you just see Burton with Gulliver's Travels??

S Club Mama said...

I didn't even know this was in the making. It looks like it's going to be just beautiful!

I wouldn't mind him doing Snow White or something beautiful like that, but I also could agree with Kat about Gulliver's Travels.

I am cracking up over TMM's comment.

So, are you?

Gonna drop acid, I mean?

Wicked.

OMgosh! I saw this for the first time last night and started drooling immediately. I first saw Johnny and KNEW it was him, and it was going to be great.

I think it's been said already - yep, this is gonna be awesome! I knew JD was involved, and you have to assume Helena would be...but Ms. Hathaway, that's a fun addition! :)

I can't say I've heard about it before now* but it looks interesting. If the costumes are any indication - it will be AWESOME.

*You are always ahead of the game. I bow to you.

My hubby and I were discussing the total bad casting on the part of Johnny Depp. What were they thinking? (today is opposite day :)
Johnny Depp couldn't be more perfect. We. heart. Depp. Bigtime.

I heart Tim Burton! This will be amazing! Remember that old ALice in Wonderland? (Not the Disney Cartoon, but the one with real actors. Don't have a clue who was in it.) Oh I loved that so much as a kid. I'm so excited about this! Thank you for making my day.

Fidgeting Gidget said...

It looks fun! I think he'd do an awesome Sleeping Beauty (my favorite) and I know that James and The Giant Peach was done already, as was The Witches, but I think he'd do those quite well, too.

Gina said...

What? No Ed Harris? Why?
You know, I loved the books- all of them- but the Disney animated gives me a migraine every. single. time.
I don't know if I could survive the bizarre nature that is sure to come from Tim Burton's twisted genius mind.

ParentingPink said...

AWESOME! I am a huge Tim Burton fan and I am so excited to see this movie too!

Tim Burton & Johnny Depp... magic happens when these two get together. Of all their collaborations, "Sleepy Hollow" has been my favorite (at least, so far...)

(is it just me? Or does anyone else think Depp looks more like Elijah Wood in this pic than himself? maybe it's the gap between the teeth?)

Kate said...

I am very much excited! And I'm glad they went with a lesser known actress for Alice because I think I'll really be able to lose myself in the character that way. I think all of the casting is amazing!

MRP said...

Wow! I didn't even know this was in the works! I am so excited.. whoooo hoooo, can't wait!

I just wanted to thank you for all of the goodies you gave me in the hometown swap. I'm really enjoying them all!! The nuts are scrumptious!!

Johnny Depp doesn't look right. That makeup makes him look like the kid that played Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings. But Alan Rickman, I'm all up in that Kool-Aid.

Jen said...

OH wow, I knew nothing about this but now I totally can't wait! It looks awesome!!!

Holy cow! That is my husbands favorite book. Whenever we travel, we buy a copy of it at one the bookstores. Just bought a copy in France.
I can't wait for March! Thanks for the info

You are so much cooler than I, Lula. I had no idea that this movie was in the works. As a Tim Burton devotee, I must say that I am super excited. You know this movie is going to be truly amazing.

I read through your comments. They were very fun, but very few actually answered your question. Here are my suggestions to Mr. Burton:

1) Pinocchio
2) Hansel and Grethel
3) Rumpelstiltskin

Granted all of my ideas are kids' stories, but it is hard to brainstorm outside the world in which one lives. :)

PS: I am making you my new source of all things cool and noteworthy.

Johnny Depp is just unstoppable. Is there anything he can't do? And the weirder the role, the better he is at it.

Anne Hathaway looks kinda creepy like that though.

Hmmm ... will have to check this one out.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland. But with all these great actors, I feel like my must see it! (I'm the most excited about Alan Rickman and Christopher Lee. Is that weird?)
