Flashback Friday!

"'Cause he sounds like a drag..."

Nothing says summer like Danny & Sandy. And nothing says summer like a guy bragging he'd done way more than staying out 'til 10:00.

Yeah, I think we've all been there.

Showing some Grease love today, y'all...oh, and here's a little bit of trivia to boot: last month was the 30th anniversary of the film. Yes, I aaid 30th.

When I was a little girl I wanted to be sweet, innocent, singing-about-hand-holding Sandy. As a teenager I strutted around in pure Rizzo fashion. (Without the "defective typewriter" scare!) Now that I'm quickly approaching my mid-30's it has become painfully obvious that I'm really just Blanche...Rydell High's blundering secretary. Yep.

Happy weekend, y'all!

I made Katie watch Grease a few months ago. Told her it was my version of High School Musical. She and my mom had watched that reality show where they were casting for the new Broadway version of Grease...so it helped her put some of those songs into context.

There is not much better than Grease. I actually love Grease 2! How corny am I? My sis and I lived on those two movies and Top Gun one summer! We knew all the songs and lines inthe movies! Wish my boys would watch them, ut then again...maybe not yet! Maybe not ever...

You really don't strike me as Blanche babe....You have the gusto of Rizzo with the "sweet rebellion" of Sandra Dee!!! OOmpapa, Oompapa, OOmpapa Yeah!

To this day I can sing each and every word to each and every song in Grease. Also Grease 2. Love, love, love them both.

Love Grease! Of course, I didn't fully understand the lyrics until I was much older. Heehee.

I'm like Kimba. I know the words to every song from both movies.

I love that you think you're Blanche.

I always felt like Frenchie...barely on the fringes of the "cool" kids.

My daughter LOVES both movies and has the soundtrack to both.

I haven't yet told her the meaning behind "Greased Lightning"...that's for another day when she's MUCH older.

It took me until I was an adult to really listen to the lyrics and when I did, I just about sh*t my pants. And then I laughed like crazy!

Oh, and my favorite moment is right at the beginning of Grease when Danny turns around for us to see him for the first time. Drop Dead Gorgeous!!!

Grease was my first PG movie. I vividly remember walking to the movie theater and standing in line.

How about you be Blance and I'll be the secretary from Ferris Bullers Day Off, kay?

I'm glad someone remembered it's the 30th Anniversary!

You may not believe me, but I'm a professional JOHN TRAVOLTA impersonator. I won't clutter your Blog with my Website, but my stage name is Brian Travolta.

Google me if you're curious...

GREASE is the word!

The way my middle has expanded and contracted over the last 10 years- because my typewriter only functions occasionally- I'm beginning to feel like Jan. Hold on, I hear a cupcake calling me!

Gina said...

Oh, and that was the COOLEST movie of all time! Until I watched it with my parents one night as an adult. I was totally embarrassed....

NICE LOLA!!!!! This is a trick post right?
If I say I don't like Grease...I get shit fom all of you and then my blg gets bombarded with hte mail-comments.
If I say that I do like Grease...Then I get shit about the mixture of men and musicals, masculenity, etc. I am nt gay...I don't watch musicals....but I've seen Grease and ...its not bad.

There!!!!was that an ok answer.

Love Grease. I can't believe its 30. And somebody please tell me how you download a youtube video onto your blog - for the life of me I can't figure it out.

Ummmm, Gina, we weren't allowed to watch Grease. I'm telling on you.
I was at a sleepover at Lori Lindahls house once and her mom made me call my mom to see if we could watch Grease and my mom said no. So I haven't ever watched it (all the way through) can you believe that? Remember I'm the rule follower that wants to be rebelious, if only there weren't so many rules. Gina - yeah, not so much a rule follower. I think she was 12 or 13 when i caught her drinking beer out by the garage........
at any rate, I guess I need to get me some GREASE.

Oh yeah Lula, me and you are so on for that tatoo before we turn 40! I know you can help bring out the rebel in me.

I just love Grease! Olivia Newton-John was on the Today show the other morning, talking about her new relationship. She still looks GREAT, 30 years after Grease was made! I've got a video up today, to, which will give you a little chuckle!

Lula,

I feel like we are kindred spirits. You were in Ireland too? We must talk about this. I trust you enough now to give you my email so we can discuss amongst ourselves and not steal precious comment space from our loyal fans.

cowengilmore@yahoo.com

We must talk.

Oh, and I was in the NC mountains this weekend and I found a Virginia map because I thought that I was super close to you. Alas, you really live in South WEST VA, like over TN, really over TN, not even close to Boone, NC where we were. Dang. We must get together.

One of my favorite movies of all time. This last winter, I took the older girls to see the high school kids perform it. They loved it and when I told them it was a movie, they had to see it. We have the soundtrack on the regular iPod rotation.

I love Grease...and Grease II. My DH thinks I'm retarded but I love singing along!

Wow, 30 years...I was only 2 when it all happened. Is it strange that I love it so much?
