True Confessions.

In the past week I have had not one, not two, not three, but seven different grown women confide in me their love for a fictional man.

Give y'all three guesses and the first two don't count.

Oh, Stephenie Meyer...look what you have wrought. Happily married women are falling gushily and mushily in love with one Edward Anthony Masen Cullen, and feeling zero guilt about the whole scenario. I don't know what it is about this particular week...budding anticipation for the movie release on November 21? A secret "We Heart EAMC" society I am unaware of, with the sole purpose of spreading the Edward love these past few days? A full moon? The last few days of summer?

I refuse to out each person who has breathed the words, "Can I just say that I'm totally in love with Edward?" OK, so I'll make a few public. Some are family members (ahem--Mandy!), some are bloggy pals who've just discovered the scrumptious goodness that is Twilight, (cough-cough, Stephanie, among many others!), and quite a few are "real life" friends of mine, living here in my little mountain town. My (many) copies of the books have made their rounds in Lee County.

With every confession of undying devotion to one Edward Cullen, the inevitable is always asked of me: "Is it pathetic that I'm in love with a fictional character?"

My answer? Of course not! We all love Edward. We love Bella, too...but Edward is the man. Our man. It makes me happy that so many are passionate about him. Yeah, I said passionate...it is Edward I'm talking about.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...if you haven't devoured the Twilight Saga, what on earth are you waiting for? And Kathy...I'm looking at YOU, my dear.

Edited 9:37 AM, Eastern time:

I have a friend who has been reading my blog for ages. She lives in my town & is one of my closest friends. (Our daughters have been BFFs since they were 2!) I just want to state--for the record--that TODAY is the very first time Lacey Edwards Fischer has ever left a comment on Lulaville.

Thanks, Lacey...and all it took was Edward to draw you out. I'm not the least bit surprised!

With all your talk and Heather's talk and Tiff's talk, I really want to read these. Maybe next month's budget will allow room for book money!

Only like... 9 more months and then i can read them!

Rachelle Lynne said...

Um, Caroline, I will gladly send you mine. I plan on buying the hard cover since I had to buy the last two in hard cover. Oh crap. I just outed myself. Muhahahahahaha!!!! (almost done with New Moon)

I love Edward, Bella and you for finally convincing me it was really really not horror but fantastic reading. My hardcovers are on their way! Yahoo!

Yes, after so much hype about this series of books, I read them, all four in one week! I will say they are wonderful and now I cannot wait to see the movie...

And you said you weren't going to do another Twilight post...as if you could resist.

I have Bella's Lullaby by Edward Cullen on my blog playlist, and I just can't take it off. I love it. I pretend Edward is playing it for me alone.

Pathetic, huh? Oh, well...

If there is a secret "We Heart EAMC", I want to belong!

I haven't confessed my love out loud for fear of sounding mentally afflicted but now that I know I'm not the only one...

I ♥ Edward!

I MUST concede that, yes, that is a very HOT picture of Rob. Rumor has it there's a picture of him in the shower on photobucket. Do we really care if someone photoshopped his head onto another person's body? No. No we don't.

Lacey said...

Yes, I admit Im in love with Edward too!

You know, it's funny to me that I feel like everywhere I go in blogland, I find that people are in love with Edward. In real life, though, my sister and bff are total Jacob fans. I just find it a little amusing :)

Kathi Roach said...

Yea Edward!!!! If only he was real! Sigh.

I'm on Eclipse now. Can't wait for the movie!!!

ah, Edward. :)

I have yet to involve myself in the Twilight saga. don't know if I will. I'm not a big fiction reader kind of gal.

And well the whole Vampire thing kind of freaks me out. I know gasp away. The shock the horror. And well Edward seems to wear a little to eye makeup in that picture for my liking. Sorry.

I still love ya though. Freakishly and all.

Amy said...

Its all about fantasy. I am on the third book and just last night I was swooning as I read. Edward is sweeeet!

Britt said...

I have to confess that .. as much as I love Edward .. I'm with Lauren W . I fell head over heels for Jacob. *sigh* :o)

Mama Dawg said...

See, he didn't do it for me. Sorry, Lula!

I've never fallen for a fictional character. Not even in movies.

Wait, I take that back. I did fall in love with Jack Kelly from "Newsies". I wanted so badly for him to fall in love with me and we'd take on Pulitzer et al. and save all the Newsies.

Sigh....I was born in the wrong time.

Live.Love.Eat said...

Haha ha ha ha LOL ha ha ha ha. As soon as I read your 1st line about grown women loving a fictional character my eyes quickly went to my name in bold a few paragraphs below. Yes, yes, yes, I fell more in love with the idea of Edward, I should say, last night even. While I have nothing but respect for all the ladies who are on Team Jacon I just don't understand how that's even an option :) This story started because of Edward & Bella. I could not betray. Ahhh, I better stop, I'm getting carried away!!!! This is your fault Lula!!!!!!! And I love you for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Live.Love.Eat said...

See, I can't even spell his name right. Jacob. Ughhh!

TentCamper said...

Yeah......I m now Insane Mama's SECOND love! This is just great!

...and why have I not seen yo on my blog miss Lula?

Insane Mama said...

I'm bad, realy bad. I dream about Edward and his velvety voice and his yellow eyes stare at me when he is hungry. I would gladly give him my blood

Ah, but was makes it all more amusing is when your ten year old daughter sends you emails about how good Edward looks - along with pictures.

And then you send them to Lula because you are amused.

And Lula says, oh, but wait, these pictures are better.

So you forward them to said 10 year old.

And she wants to know when her next fix might arrive...She needs an Edward picture of the day.

I am just starting Breaking Dawn. I feel so bad for Jacob..(Heather says if I am team Jacob that we cannot be friends!) I love Edward...I just feel bad for Jacob!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today (or was it yesterday with the time difference, who knows and to be frank who cares). I've just spend time cruising your blog - you are hilarious.

I really must find out more about thie Twilight book you've been raving about.

I too, have a strange crush on Edward - it disturbed me for days - depressed me, really, that Edward was fictional. And then I snapped out of it 4 days later. If anything, it made book 2 suck for me because I skipped through 1/2 of it just waiting impatiently for Edward to come back!

I read the first 100 pages of New Moon last night. I am really glad I gave these books a chance!

Preeeettttty. Thanks for the beautiful picture of OUR man!! I have finished the series and am now so excited about Nov. 21. I can't wait!!!!!!

I am just getting caught up on all my 3 comments that I have gotten on my blog and saw that you stopped by. I did start reading Midnight Sun and loved the part that I read. Mysteriously it disappeared from the computer. My husband said he had nothing to do with that but I think that is suspect. I think he is a little jealous of my boyfriend Edward. I will let you know what I think once I am done. Great so far though!!!

Twilight is sitting on my bed stand. I have a very strict rule regarding starting new books before finishing current books and that is that I don't do it.

Edward is just going to have to chill for a second.

Freaking vampire...

I have a question......is this twilight saga a girly saga? or can guys read it? Just curious....maybe i should have just emailed that question, and not made it a public comment.....ohh well.

Rhea said...

Oh, Edward. He's truly brought together a nation of horny women.

Just Lisa said...

I gave my girlfriend Twilight to read and I asked her what she thought of it. This was her response:

"I am so in love with Edward. I want him to push a car out of the way to save me. I want him tell me he's tired of ignoring me. I want him to suck out all my blood so we can live together for all eternity."

Just thought you should know how your influence is extending out past the blog world!

I have about 50 pages left in Twilight. I will finish it today. I like the book, but don't LOVE it. Am I weird?

I am so sucked in. I totally relate to why Tiffany named it Cracklitature. I am so hooked. And so not my usual subject of interest. I even had a dream about me and Edward last night. Woke up about 3am needing to tee tee, super mad that my bladder interrupted the "magic". Sigh.

Cristin said...

I gobbled all four books in about 2 weeks... then went into a deep depression because I missed Edward so much...

Hi! I just happened upon your blog and have been sucked in! I'm from Southwest VA and have been transplanted to GA! Go figure! My 13 year old has gotten me hooked on the Twilight series too. I have to say though....my heart would def go for Edward, my head leans towards Jacob. :P
I don't have a blog (because I stink at journaling), but if you want feel free to e-mail me.
Now I'm going to finish reading your posts! :)

You know...even though I didn't love Twilight (don't hate...I tried) I could kinda sorta picture Edward and get my thing going on. BUT, when I saw the movie version of Edward...it was gone. Do NOT see the attraction in that skinny, greasy looking guy.

Edward is not yours he's MINEMINEMINE!

Oh... I must say 'thank you' from the bottom of my oh-so-grateful heart! After reading your thoughts on Twilight, my mom and I picked up the book. I loved all of them! Eclipse took me through labor with my daughter, Emberleigh, and Breaking Dawn through the rest of my hospital stay, specifically re-learning how to breastfeed. You have opened my horizon to include the wonderful Cullen family and for that I will always be in your debt!
