A Big Ol' Weepy Mess.

For all my rants regarding suggestive songs, tampons and minty fresh tooties, I am admittedly the biggest sap around. When it comes to my husband or children it takes very little to start my waterworks flowing. But come on...I'd wager at least 95% of you moms are wired the exact same way. Oh, you may put on a tough show and guard your emotions, but when it really comes down to the nitty gritty, you're snotting and sobbing the second your child does or says something remotely precious. (Like 2 days ago, when I put a red and white polka dotted bathing suit on Caroline--she looked at herself and announced, "Oooh--I'm beautiful!" My mother and I just about fell off the bed.)

Last night was my eldest's 4th recital with Lee School of Dance. The theme for the ballet portion of the show was Disney Princesses. Dressed as Snow White, Libbey took to the stage and danced to "Any Girl Can Be A Princess." As soon as the music started and her little precious arms and legs began to work their magic, I felt the tears welling. That's my baby. But she's not a baby anymore. (Libbey is the 2nd Snow White in the front--her best friend, Bronwen, is to her right.)

Maybe I have fresh perspective due to the new little 4 day old girl in our family...because believe me, it seems like only minutes ago I was holding a brand new Miss Mary Elizabeth Litton. And now she's almost 6 & a half and becoming a little lady so fast I can't take pictures with my heart fast enough.

Today Scotty pleaded to Libbey, "Please don't get any older...stay the age you are right now." Oh honey, I totally agree.

I love you, Libbey. You are more than a princess. You are a daughter of the King!

I really do wish they wouldn't grow so fast... Keep taking pictures, and videos and keep writing all about it!

They grow up so fast. I sent my little girls off to camp...and they came home nasty and grimy yesterday. And then today...Katie got a call from a boy that she met at camp. We are in such trouble...

Way to go Leigh! You made me cry reading your post! I'll tell you again; enjoy those babies. They are gone in the blink of an eye! When you all first came to FBC Kristi was 13 almost 14 years old and now look at her! WOW! Amie was 18 almost 19 and now she is married. Can you believe it? I sure can't!

And by the way, Libbey Memaw loves you too! You are a special little girl in my life!

THANK you for posting this because I bawled my head off last night when my little girl danced in her recital. She's in jazz and was waving her little jazz hands all over the place in her sparkly jazz jumper and I was a puddle on the floor. I feel better know I'm not the only mom that cries during dance recitals.

It goes too fast and I forget that in the day to day craziness.

Libbey looks beautiful in her costume and I'm so glad her performance went so well.

I told my girl that she couldn't get any older and she very dismissively said, "Oh mommy, EVERYBODY gets older..."

I cry at all my children's school programs. Mostly from the agony of watching other people's children.

Have you try binding your children? It was popular amoung the Chinese (and I might be making this up, I don't know because dreams and reality often collide In My Head) where you just keep them wrapped so tight they can't grow. They get older but they stay tiny. You know what, I think that was something to do with a Chinese foot fetish and an entire child so never mind.

That was precious! I bawl when Lauren, my four year old, dances in the living room to "I Danced with Cinderella"! She puts on her little ballerina leotard and twirls around....nothing greater!

WAHHHHHH! My daughter in law looks so beautiful. Can you imagine us on their wedding day? We are going to be in hysterics.

And, I am totally okay moving to the South to be near them.. That way you can stay in your cute town.

Okay, every one is crying over their beautiful daughters dancing. I, however, am crying over the fact that mine won't use the potty and she likes to smear her diapers. Ah well, different strokes for different folks.

But do you have the Daughter of the King book? There is a book by that title. I am friends with the lady who wrote it. If you need one let me know.

So sweet! I always choke up at kid's programs, it doesn't matter if my kids are in it or not!

Libby looks darling.........

any chance you'll break off her betrothal to Mrs. R's son and consider my eight year old?

I think that all the time. I wish she'd just stay the age she is right now (of course, I think EVERY age is a wonderful age...except infancy).

Okay...I am starting to feel like wicked witch of the west wondering how I'm going to confess to the fact that I never shed a tear at these things...you guys will have to teach me.
Maybe having three BOYS and only one girl has done me in...I am mostly just numb...because my boys are the nose pickers with crooked halos at these things...

Oh, Mrs. R...how I love you and your enthusiasm for corn hole. And The Bachelorette. It makes me wanna grab you, dip you over, and like Berger & Carrie, give you a "Hollywood kiss."

Yesterday, I looked at my little girl smiling up at me and cried. Couldn't tell you why, but I did.
