Like all children, I couldn't wait to grow up and be a big girl. Now, though...well...some days I just wanna be a kid again. I want to be 10 years old, just for a day. I wanna swim all morning & afternoon, eat cheese sandwiches by the pool and drink "Co-Colas," (as my Papaw called them, and as all good southerners should) then enjoy an enormous nap before eating supper, watching "The Pirate Movie" and "Grease," (when the sexual innuendo was still way over my head). I wanna collapse into bed at the shocking hour of 10 pm and do it all over again the next day.

Maybe I'd rather be 6...so I could go back and watch this:

Yes, I am old enough to have enjoyed The Electric Company, when it was actually on the air. Seriously good programming, y'all. And oh, how I wanted a life-sized lollipop of my own. The dreams of a young girl...sigh...

Have a great weekend!

I think about stuff like this all the time. I could've appreciated my childhood so much more than I did. I miss those days!

My childhood was spent barefoot at the beach and pool hoping, I still do those things, does that mean I do not know how to grow up?
Going to Georgia tomorrow... to celebrate redneck style

This brought back memories of you when you were a little girl, clopping around the house in Aunt Doris's shoes and putting little marks in my wood floor! Those were the days...

love,

mom

Ohhh... I remember hoping on my bike and being gone from 9 in the morning until 7 at night, swimming with my friends all day... everyday, all summer... those were the days!

Couldn't get the video to play, but I too, loved the Electric Company...Hey You Guys.....! I miss those pool days - all day long, all day strong - eating PB&J, cheese puffs, and drinking cokes. Now I know why mom took us to the pool everyday, cause when we got home, we'd go to bed and it would only be 7. water + sun + a full belly = sleep.

I loved the Electric Company (and the Shmoo's & Hong Kong Phooey, etc. IM is too young for them...but oooohhh the memoies!

Life was nice then. Much easier.

I do have to admit that when we go to parties and get togehers, I am the one rolling on the gound and running around with all of the little ones....the grown ups are too boring!!!!

I remember watching Electric Company with my little brother and sister. It is so much better than the millions of Barney's that I wathced with my kids. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I have been here several times and just never left a comment. That will now change!

Ahhhhh, I am living it. With a four year old, a two year old and a baby due in September, all of these memories for oyu are currently in the making in our household, and will be for some time. And yes, I do admit to cranking on the TV so that I can get anything important done, like blogging and commenting.

My days of being a kid was watching Saturday morning cartoons and going outside and roller skating with skates that had a key to tighten them and using sidewalk chalk to make lanes to skate in and waiting for the ice cream man to come and having my 25 cents ready and having to come inside when the street lights came on...oh the joys of summer and being a kid!!!

Summers were so simple then. The pool, bug catching, vacations to the beach. And now I struggle to ban the technology and get the kids outside while they complain constantly about the heat...
